Depending on the person yes. There is a store in my town that sells raw diet and many other things. It is a small store and so I get also have gotten to know the regulars there. I would trust them to buy food for my dog. The other thing is with all the recalls and all of the "good" food that is nothing but fillers if I hadn't found the kibble (solid gold) I did I would have completely turned to homemade dog food. If you are worried about your dog not getting enough nutrients then you could add some kibble. We feed kibble some human food, and raw diet to our dogs. Remember it wasn't until during WW that they made dog food to begin with. It had to be cheap and the parts that humans didn't want due to there being such a shortage. The kibble is essentially just left over from what humans wouldn't eat.

I personally would not unless I knew the peson quite well. As far as knowing what they are putting in commercial dogs foods, well they are held under FDA regulations and have to pass certain requirements to be able to market them. Yes there are alot of those foods being recalled and yes there are alot of pets sick and/or dead from this mishap, and it is a horiible thing to have happened. But I would not trust a complete stranger with making homemade dog food either. Can you be sure they know the hings dogs can and cannot have? If you want to go the home made why, why not make it your self? Just my thoughts on it.

not that i trust all pet foods completely, home made food is sometimes less healthy than the average dog food found in the store,,, a dogs diet is important for lots of reasoning, their nutritional needs are different than a humans, it also tends to be needed in a more consistant manner or digestive issues occur...just because someone has dogs does not make them smarter or more caring of dogs.....there are websites that have home made food recipes for dogs, as for contamination of the pet food supply it was limited to the foods with wheat gluten, mostly wet foods and some treats......avoid those and give your pet a food that will allow it too thrive... if you truly feel you need to do the homemade then slowly integrate the new recipes...watch for many things, the teeth and gums are indicators of nutrician deficiencies....monitor the dogs weight and fur,,, if the dog becomes lethargic, or has vomiting or diarhea then changes in recipes need to happen....even store bought foods require this attention and not all bags are equal in giving your dog a healthy nutritious life....i use beneful for my dog.....i tried many others and my dogs ate twice the volume were skinny and had vomiting and diarhea issues, from cheap bulking foods that were deficient in nutrition and when i changed to Beneful i only used half the amount of food, they gained weight and their coats were thicker and fuller...no more vomiting and good stools...IE much easier to clean up than a gob of poop soup...

I definitely wouldn't, even if the person had been breeding healthy dogs for 50 years. Good dog foods these days have so much nutrients and good stuff that it is hard to compare it to anything homemade. The best things for your dog cannot all be put into a homemade verson, so stick to something good like Eukanuba. I've been using that for my dog since he was a pup, and he is healthy as a horse! Good luck to you!

well, mayb u ought 2 check in every now and then on ur dog, just 2 see how it's doing. u may also want 2 check ur dog's food and see if it is the contaminated food. u may also want 2 inform the person taking care of ur dog what dog food is contaminated and which is o.k. try feeding ur dog everytime u come over and buy ur own food 4 the dog.

I've thought alot about that lately, and I think it is too risky. Too many people want to sue these days and selling them homemade dog food would really open the flood gates on that one.

Depends on how long I've known them and do I trust them. If they're complete strangers then no. Would you give your baby homemade food from some stranger? Just be careful

my mom makes dog biscuits either with peanut butter, ground chicken, or canned mackeral. she also makes the sauce with ingedients including fish oil, carrots, alfafa, etc. my dog really loves it. i say anything is better than the store bought products which has a lot of chemicals. cooking for your dog defintely takes more time and perhaps slightly more expensive, but it is definitely better - long life and no bad breath/fleas.
if you don't have time to cook for your dog, it is better to buy it from someone else if you know the food is natural.

I make my own dog food.
If I were to buy from someone they would have to guarantee to me they use only the highest quality products.
