I would get the help from a psychiatrist. Only certain medications are approved for teens, because some children have commited suicide while on these medications. You should be well informed of potential weight gain and fatigue too. A psychiatrist would be able to prescribe a combination of medicines to avoid these side effects. I would definately get it treated with medication though. I suffered from Social Anxiety as a teenager and medication would have made a huge positive difference. To my knowledge, only Prozac is approved for teenagers.

Better self-esteem and greater sense of self worth? Dunno if they make a pill for it. But love and affirmation can help. Try to get more intune to his or her needs.
I'm not saying that it may not be chemical, but pay attention the emotional side as well. Even being placed on medication, can reinforce the idea that there is something wrong with one's self. I dunno degrade your love for your child, but think he may not interpret the message. I guess I am trying to say, if your child saw his/herself the way you did, he'd feel awhole lot better about his/herself.

tell your dr. they will give you fluxotene I take it and it works well
