DON'T DO IT! You will never achieve your desired shade and this will be a mistake waiting to happen. Remember, when you want to lighten your hair, you have to open the cuticle and pull the color pigment out. This can be achieved using the correct peroxide level (by a professional, the ones in the store are predetermined and don't go by hair type/condition etc).

A home remedy will leave you hair so dry and may give you a color you did not want! You can't control it's affect and the reaction may still take place after a wash, not to mention the reaction of the shampoo and product used.

I know you want to but honestly, it is best not to do this or your mom is going to have an even bigger expense. Corrective color treatments are the #1 money maker in salons and you may be there for a while to get things back to normal or where you wanted them!!!

Good luck!

If you want to naturally enhance your natural hair color, how about trying a highlight enhancing shampoo. Pantene makes some that are inexpensive, moisturizing and they really work. My hair is naturally blonde and I use the one for light blondes. It really brings out my hair's own highlights and doesn't dry it out. It also smells great.

if you live somewhere sunny, use lemon juice (male sure its the real stuff) and put it in your hair. then lay in the sun making sure your hair is exposed. you can prty much die it, or highlight it.
