NO. Absolutely not! There's a reason for different types of flour in different recipes. They all have different scientific properties and will react differently in your cake. Bread flour will not make your cake moist, and will only dry it out. It'll taste stale and wil be harder than what it should be. I agree with the first answer, borrow some from your neighbor or go to the store.

OK, baking is a lot like chemistry--if you change the ingredients, you get a different result. So until you are a little more experienced, don't try to substitute anything. Check your supplies before you start mixing; if you're out of anything, wait until you can run to the store, or see if your neighbor will trade a slice of cake in exchange for an egg. Also, make sure your tools are correct. Use an accurate set of measuring cups and spoons instead of the utensils for the table, and make sure they're squeaky-clean before you start. Some kinds of cake can be ruined by even a little extra grease. Finally, read through the recipe at least once to make sure you understand all of the directions. If there are terms or directions you don't understand, look them up. Then follow the directions exactly. Since you're new, I'd look for some recipes for "one-bowl" cakes. They are generally very simple, and more forgiving than other sorts of cake. Good luck with your next attempt!

It will be just fine, but the "crumb" (that is an industry term, meaning the density of the finished product) will be a little denser than you're used to, and measure the same, less two tablespoons, that way you won't "overglutenize" the flour.....You'll be fine......that is if you just need a bit to make the remainder of the total flour called for in the recipe...Enjoy!!!

Ok, in a pinch you can use bread flour, but you'll need to re-do your leavening agent. Sift your bread flour three times and add baking powder and baking soda. Good luck!

I doubt that would be a good idea. Can't you borrow a bit from a neighbor until you can get to the store?
