so far, all I eat is:

oatmeal
eggs w/ whole wheat bread
turkey sandwiches w/ wheat bread
chicken and brown rice
and sometimes tuna (but it is too expensive)

can someone please recommend something else thats good for bodybuilders to eat that is inexpensive and healthy?

thats pretty good right there, and to be honest, thats about all i eat.

chicken salads with fat free dressing is pretty good. i also add flax seeds, raisin, and hard boiled eggs to make them taste better, and better for you.

make sure your eating lots of deep leafy green veggies. when i have eggs, i usually make a spinach omelet. 1 whole egg, the other 3 egg whites. add some low fat ham deli meat, whole wheat toast, and a tall glass of dole pineapple orange strawberry juice too (1 glass has 2 servings of fruit! so its good stuff).

im trying to eat asparagus too. starting out with lightly cooked. as long as you eat it with a meal, its not too bad.

i eat fat free chili too, 40g of protein per can, the ones i buy. those with fat free hot dogs on wheat bread... good chili dogs :)

other than that, you look like your doing pretty good. keep up the good work!

* first bread should not be a staple in the diet of a bodybuilder. the carbohydrate intake should be based on all natural unprocessed grains, legumes, etc. foods like whole oats, whole rice, lentils, barley, beans, etc. processed carbohydrates should be consumed at the bare minimum

for the most part it doesn't really matter what the food items are as long as the meal consists of a quality protein and either carbs or protein and fats:

lean beef & lentils
fish & rice
eggs & oats
poultry & lentils or beans

* for the most part to be successful at bodybuilding you have to learn to eat for function vs flavor. tastes takes a back-seat to nutritional content

proteins will always be the most expensive item in the bodybuilding diet. protein supplements can be a inexpensive way to easily increase the daily protein intake. try to save money by buying grains, legumes, nuts & seeds in bulk at places like Whole Foods and Wild Oats, etc.

consume 40% protein, 40% carbohydrates and 20% fats. if you are on a fat reduction or mass gaining diet. monitor the body fat bi-weekly to determine where gains and losses on the scale are actually ocurring

Sorry, no such thing as cheap and healthy in the same sentence for a bodybuilder. Check one or two wholesale food outlets (BJ's or Costco) for tuna. Last I shopped at BJ's a 10 pack of tuna in water cost about 50 cents per can.

Bake beef or chicken for 45 minutes that is marinated in:
-garlic marinade (not garlic butter)
-terryaki sauce (yeah, I know, salt!!)
-other marinade that sounds appealing

Eggs with:
-a couple pieces of fruit
-green, red, and yellow peppers, mushrooms, and green onions
-cinnamon
-low sodium salsa as a topping
-guacamole dressing (made with an avacado, miracle whip, and leek onion soup mix) [avacado have so-called "good fat"]
-other non-pepper mixed veggies
