Easter is based around the Jewish calendar, which has a different number of months and days to a month from the Gregorian calendar we use. For example, every month of the Jewish calendar begins and ends on a new moon. It is also older then out calendar, and the date of Easter was set on it before our calendar came along.

Because of this, the date for Passover (which is where Easter falls) is the same every year on THEIR calendar, but different every year on ours.

The easier way to understand when Easter comes is it is on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. That keeps it the same every year on the Jewish calendar.

Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the first full moon after the vernal (spring) equinox. The vernal equinox is one of only two times in the year when the sun crosses the celestial equator making the length of day and night approximately equal.

Happy Easter.
