Paintedr. . . is correct.
I live in the country and during the winter I drive myself crazy setting mouse traps but I have to keep them up and out of my Yorkie's sight because when the trap sets,he just goes crazy trying to get to the mouse. . dead or still alive.
If my Yorkie sees a mouse,he will drive me crazy trying to pursue that mouse even though I have seen the mouse go somewhere else,my Yorkie tries to get into where he last saw that mouse.
My Yorkie has caught mice in the yard and he kills them. . . I find them sometime later.
He doesn't appear to want to eat them but for the fact that he does get them in his mouth and does kill them I have quit using Poison Mouse Baits in and around my house.
He also tries to catch and kill toads that get into my yard and regardless of how many times the toads make him frothy at the mouth he is relentless in getting them. . . .he continues to try and try and try. (I always get the toads out of his reach as I want the toads to eat the bugs that are eating at my flowers and garden. Not to mention I really enjoy watching a toad feasting on a good supply of bugs. . . watching Nature is wonderful)
Chasing mice and rats are in their genetic make up and it's perfectly normal. . . as Paintedr. . . recommends, keep the basement door shut but be ready when one of those mice make it up the stairs. . Ha Ha Ha

Are you worried about the mouse or your dog?

Mouse- If you don't want to throw the mouse in the trash, then bury it where your dog will not be able to dig it up.

Dog- The dog is probably going to be fine, but if she starts acting different or throws up anything, then you might want to take her to the vet.

The Yorkshire Terrier was originally bred for catching the terrible rats that infested the mine shafts and as a hunting dog that could penetrate into badger and fox burrows.

So....keep the door to the basement closed, unless your Yorkie is supervised.

Well, your Yorkie is obviously a meat eater. Maybe his or her instincts told her to eat the mouse and she needed protein. As long as no blood was drawn I wouldn't worry. She/he probably was just instinctual trying to protect you.

Terriers are hunters and your Yorkie was only doing what is embedded in his gentic makeup.
