Yes, of course it's just a belief and cannot be proven. But it's the evidence that's important, and there is *NO EVIDENCE*.
Science is also based on evidence (not proof) and there's just an overload of evidence for science... disputing all religions!

God cannot be proven in scientific terms.
Though this is a good example as to why all roads do not lead to God. And the idea that truth is relative. Contridictions can not all be right at once.
Many get caught up in the religion and miss the whole faith aspect. Faith is actually knowing God. Religion is the man made traditions. Very different things - but relgion is where most of the conflict lies.

Try figuring out where the program, in seeds came from, that hey should fall to the earth, get buried, water and earth cause them to soften. What and why a root should develop
And start to react to the soil? From where comes the what ever that cause it to take certain items from the earth and use them to grow, develop into a plant, produce flowers/fruit, NEW SEEDS and repeat this process?
How should the soil have the what ever that the seed needs? What created this what ever, and in the right amounts?
All humans see and react to is the finished product! We say the tree needs this and this and this to grow! But, where did this formula come from, too, the formulas for all else needed to support this tree? What created all of this so precisely?
Nature does not require anything from humans for anything they exists in Nature! Nothing they humans do support any thing in Nature! Too, nature does not create/develop anything that it does not require!
Nature did not create humans, (it has no use/purpose for humans), so, what/whom created humans and for what purpose?
Why even have all of this born/live a little/die?
For what purpose? Nothing that humans do/make has any impact on a purpose for coming here in the first place? Why space? For what purpose? What created it? The big Bang, as a creator, is out? That would be just explosive energy, says nothing about what/whom created the chemistry to make the Bang Happen? Too, what created the matter that would make up the energy to make the Bang, it even ever took place?
Something far more intelligent than human, weak, retarded minds can grasp, think or even imagine.
Get your head out of the knowledge cloud!
When you get to the point that you can create something, then you might have something to say! Using any form of existing matter is not creating!

Well the deal is if there is no God there is no us b/c he created us and Jesus who did die on the cross for us and if u want proof seriously then just read ur bible and dont listen wen other religions fighting becuz the main thing is that U believe Jesus was born, crucified, went to hell for us was tormented down there, and was resurected on the third day! If u believe in these things truly in ur heart and u have him in ur heart thats all that really matters to God as long as u know and believe this!!

Jehovah's Witnesses do not denounce the cross. Instead, Witnesses believe that the bible plainly forbids idolatry of any kind, including the worshipful use of icons such as crucifixes.

(1 John 5:21) Guard yourselves from idols.
(Acts 17:29) We ought not to imagine that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, like something sculptured by the art and contrivance of man
The exact shape of Christ's instrument of death is hardly a central doctrine of the faith, but Jehovah's Witnesses do happen to believe that Jesus was almost certainly impaled on a simple stake, rather than a cross of two intersecting beams. Of course the Romans had the ability to create a cross, and probably did. But ask yourself: why they would have bothered when a simple stake would have worked just as well or better?
The bible most assuredly does NOT offer any proof that the stake was actually a cross of two intersecting beams. The actual facts of the bible may be enlightening to examine...
You may be interested to see how your own copy of the bible translates Acts 5:30, Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, and Acts 10:39. The King James, Revised Standard, Dyaglott, and Jerusalem Bible translate the instrument of Christ's death simply as "stake" or "tree" because the original wording simply does not support the idea that this was more than a piece of upright wood.
It is also eye-opening to examine how the first-century Christians felt about idols of any kind, much less one that glorified an instrument of death.

There's no doubt those you listed in your question lived. They are a part of history. The only debate, as you say, is how they lived, what happened, and interpretation on their actions and statements. To answer your question, then, religion is a belief, a belief and faith that there is a God even without seeing or having first hand knowledge God exists. Look within yourself and find which truth about God applies to you. As long as you practice love without hurting another I wouldn't worry about all that other fluff......good luck

The existence of God is a matter of faith. The existence of Jesus as God's son is also a matter of faith. The existence of Jesus as a person is fact. He is mentioned in the work of a Jewish historian named Josephus about 20 years after his death as is dated by the reference to Pilate. Paul is also mentioned in historical documents of the time.
The tenants of the faith are just that faith and confirmation is found in one's own experience with God. Belief comes before one understands it never the other way around.
Different sects of Christianity believe differently because of different cultural and sociological factors and opinions of leaders. There is little real difference between the major beliefs of Christian denominations when they are examined. The arguing is just human nature, we like to set ourselves apart from one another and say we are better than the other fellow. Interestingly enough it is contrary to what Jesus taught.
What is the deal? I am not sure. The thing to do is find a mainline church you are comfortable with and join with them. First things first, put your faith, hope, and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and seek to follow him as closely as possible study scripture to do that.

It is a good idea to ignore most of the bible or at least NEVER take it litrally.
There is no proof that God exists. That does not mean that He doesn't. Apply common sense when it comes to religion and think for yourself.

There's no proof of a God or Gods and probably never will be. Religion requires faith which is belief that is not based on proof. I don't see how anyone can believe something without proof, it just seems irrational to me.

As far as the Abrahamic religions go, it's all a question of translations and especially interpretations.
One group will interpret a passage, or group of passages to mean one thing while another group interprets it differently.
Whichever way they choose to interpret, it is all belief as there is no proof.

Deities are defined by what man has written about them. It is fed by ignorance. For instance, you often hear people attributing certain things like surviving a car accident to god. If god were so powerful, there wouldn't have been an accident.
