Your doctor should have told you that during your PRE operation visit and the day of your surgery.

Check your after surgery instructions.

Since many PS's have different ideas on when to shower, you would have to ask your PS

Mine said I could shower after 24 hours.

I've heard from other girls after a week or some up to two weeks.

Give a call to your PS even if it is a Saturday. Let their answering service know your question and he/she will contact you when you can shower.

Now, if you are talking a BATH, you will have to wait till after your incisions close. If you take a bath (not a shower) before your incisions close you could get them infected (happened to a girl I know).

I am having a reduction next week and my surgeon has told me that I will be up and out of bed the next morning and in the shower. He told me that the warmth from a shower is fantastic to help the healing process-- I also asked him about having a bath and you can also do this almost immediatly after surgery, just don't use any bubbles or soaps of course. After my surgery I will not have drains or staples( they don't do that very often these days, well skilled surgeons don't anyway) and only dissolvable stitches inside of the incisions and only about 5 stitches on the outside, but these too are dissolvable, as this is much more hygenic

**Just ensure that you dry yourself really well, using a towel and even a warm, not hot, hairdryer (although someone else might need to do that for you)

Good luck with your surgery, when are you being operated on?

In about five days or so..If your suture lines are dry and approximated. And then just a quickie it would be best to have a shower the first few times..it is a more efficient way of cleansing as the water travels down and away from your areas instead of soaking in it.You can certainly have a bath up to your waist anytime you feel strong enough to get in the tub.

I had reduction surgery 3 years ago. First of all - you have to wait until all of the drains are out and your stitches and/or staples are removed. After that - if you no longer have any open areas or any spots that are bleeding/draining - then you are probably safe to take a bath. If any areas are still leaking or oozing, I would recommend sticking to showers for the time being.

Straight away. But change the dressing afterwards if you still have them.
