My nephew, 18 months, just had surgery today to remove a foreign object from the bottom of his foot. I am currently caring for him and need some advice. They told me to keep him off the foot for 1 week but he is a very active little boy. We are holding, rocking, playing with him, etc, but he still just wants down! Any suggestions would be great--thanks in advance!

I agree keeping a toddler off their feet is impossible. For alternatives try taking him places where he is in a stroller. Go for walks outside/in the mall, swing at the playground, finger painting at the kitchen table or playing with PlayDoh etc...

Good luck.

Use something like seat belt to bed.
When he tries to stand up, hold him and let him sleep with you.
As you sleep he also tries to sleep.

I don't know where my solution is proper or not.
It is better to ask doctor rather than me.

It's just the matter of 1 week, so hold him on.

Best of Luck!

I think them expecting you to keep an 18 month old "off his feet" is asking a bit too much lol, they don't really sit still...

yeah get him to crawl or scoot on his bottom i dont think you should try to force him to sit in someones lap..i do believe when he tries to walk on his foot..he is going to want to crawl..he after all did have something removed from it and i am sure it hurts..but you get down on the floor and have races with him and maybe he will realize he can go places without walking
