Look at a new DVD player because most modern DVD players are not really designed to be repaired, so it would be cheaper to just go and buy a new one. Make sure you have trued a variety of disks in it because it could just be the disk that you are trying to play has something wrong with it. You could always try one of those lens cleaning disks because a dirty lens can sometimes course the disk to error, and make sure the disk is clean as well.

First off try a clean disk in the player secondly do not waste time reapiring it just pick up a new one if it was like a Denon or something that cost a few hundred dollars then I would repair but a Panasonic you can get pretty cheap.

Could be the DVD itself get a CD doctor to clean scratches from the DVD [Skip Dr. Motorized Automax Scratch Repair System - $25] if the DVD is in good condition it may be cheaper to get a new dvd player for about $27

Try getting some canned air and gently blowing inside. GENTLY not full pressure. Usually dust or dirt gets in those things and blocks the laser. The problem with comsumer electronics though is unless its a simple fix its probably cheaper to replace the thing. You can get a better one then you have now for less money then you origianlly paid and certainly cheaper then a repair shop would charge.

What city are you in? My cousin owns a repair shop in Modesto California and he can take care of this. Have you priced a new DVD player yet? It might be cheaper to replace it.
