There are skin bleaching products . I really would not recommend them but I do know of women that have been using them for 2 decades or more. By the way they look scary as hell. I've never heard of body scrubs or masks that lighten your skin. Really there is no way you can lighten your natural skin tone. You can use products that will even out your skin tone which may be better. No boring lectures, but from one brown cutie to another, lighter is not always better. I do hope you will find a resolution that will make you feel better about yourself. I understand where you are coming from. It's a struggle but some of us have to represent the brown and beautiful.

Yes. There is solution to lighten your face using face mask and body. I personally use this method for 10 years and would like to share with you.
* Use a mild washing foam to cleanse the face.
* Do a face scrub weekly. Apply the cleansing milk on the face and neck area. Afterwhich take a reasonable of dead sea bath salt (must be very fine texture as per the link below) and scrub lightly on the face and neck avoiding the eyes area.
* Rinse off.with water. Need not use a washing foam after that as the face is already cleansed as above.
* Only use the washing foam at night or day time when you are not doing the face scrub.
* Then you mix the beauty pack mask with white essence and apply on the face and neck area. Leave it on for 15 - 20 minutes to dry up.
* Wet your hands and lightly rub on the face and neck area and rinse off completely.
* After effect - the face will glow and moisturize then you apply your toner.
Note: White essence is able to whiten and moisturize the face. However you need to do a face scrub before you do the above steps.
Check out the link I have given you. This range of product enables you to do it yourself. The products works well when its used together. You can always chat live with them if you have any further questions.
Hope this helps.

Some studies have shown the long term effects of skin lighteners to be harmful if they're used on the entire face or body. However, lemon juice should work pretty well. Also, use a really high SPF (like 45 or 60) every time you go out. That will help prevent your skin from tanning in the sun.

Hi,
I'm Japanese and I used to have very dark skin. But over years, my skin got lighter because I always studied so hard and didn't go outside so much for 6 to 7 years. So if you want to get your skin lighter naturally, just don't go outside so much especailly during summer. Or like your mom did, you can buy skin whitening products. Lots of Asian women actually buy the kind of prodcuts even though the kind of products are not so popular in the states since so many girls want to get sun tun usually.
Well, I found the great website that can answer your question. So if you are interested in purchasing the kind of products, I recommend that you should read the website: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=737014
By the way, it's actually better to go see a dermatologist before you buy any products because s/he can pick a product for you.
Well, I hope this helps.

It's not bad to want a different skin tone, not bad to dye your hair a different color either... kojic acid soap is a strong and effective bleaching product. Bleaching creams (Kligman's) and bleaching lotions (Kojic acid) help too. Do the skin bleaching slowly but surely. Don't forget to use sunblock everyday.

i don't think washing your face and wearing cream everyday makes your skin lighter, most girls do that and i don't see any changes. there are skin bleaches you can buy, sort of like an opposite effect of fake tanners...and there are bleaching masks too i believe, but i really wouldn't recommend them, at all. and what color is your mom now? is she white?

Products like that are available in african stores. There are body lotions u could use.
Look at the ingredients and choose those with hydroquinone. You could find some in Wal Mart. I once saw one but it was for localised use like on knees, elbows and underarms. I also saw one at Sallys. The one that works for my face, i bought it in africa. The secret is to know when to stop.

Why? You should be happy to be a girl of color. Why, do you think you need to be lighter to look good. You're beautiful just the way you are. You're already blessed with natural color. Using skin products to lighten your skin, is called 'bleaching' your skin. Don't you think when white girls go to places to get tans to look like us, they have feel bad about their skin. Everyone goes through this, please don't bleach your skin, you'll regret it later. Be yourself, don't be what the society wants you to be.
