With a windows reinstall, you don't lose files. It just does an installation of the windows files. What kind of files did you lose? This is very not typical. I have done around 50 reinstalls and this has never happened to me.

This happened to me once when my system crashed, I used the Windows system recovery after reinstall and it worked. You might want to check in detail the folders you now have, check in both your owner and shared files, they may have been relocated as per defaults. If this doesn't work my advice is to spend the $50 and have a technician do a drive check. I'm sure they're still in there, maybe it's just a problem with the partition.

Good luck.

It would be helpful to know which operating system you have. (i.e. Mac OS X, Windows XP).

If you have Windows XP, I do not think that you can choose to reinstall the OS and keep all of your files. You can choose this option with Mac OS X, but I don't know about XP. If you're using XP you should have backed up your files first! Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Good luck!

Firstly saying to you that if you installed the Windows OS means that you would have comited a mistake such that you would have formated your any drive. Otherwise there is no chance of losing the data in windows mode. In my suggestion to you is that you cannot get the lost files. If you had installed the Restore IT means then there is a possible of getting that lost files for you.

Thanks...................................,
