It's odd to me that anyone would find it offensive, but then I guess people are often easily offended in our day and time. It's a religious scripture or a history of a message, meaning it is special to a certain group of people, and if you are not a part of that group of people then you should just respect what they believe. I have read many different scriptural texts of many religions and of course I don't find them offensive, even if they in no way agree with my beliefs. It does allow me to better understand those people and where they are coming from. Of course, you must have an open mind and should discuss the texts with those who believe it. I will admit that at times it was boring to read, but it all depended on my state of mind. This has occurred when reading any religious text, including the Bible. Anyone who says otherwise has to be full of it.
To each his own.

I read the Book of Mormon many years and though I do not believe it to be Scripture I remember nothing offensive in it (though my memory is not that great anymore). It does contain anachronisms and accounts that are unverified by archeology but those are not "offensive" to me. Most of the Mormon doctrines that differ from orthodox Christianity come from other writings such as The Doctrine and Covenants.

I read it when I was 17 - maybe not all of it. I remember getting bored - I was basically interested to see what it was all about, and wondered at the time if I would find any spiritual value in it as I do in the Bible. I really did have an open mind when I read it, I wasn't taking for granted the Christian non-Mormon viewpoint on it (I was always a bit of a rebel).
However I really didn't find any spiritual value in it.

It is a perfect rip off of the bible. The words are exactly the same as the KJV and verse after verse is exactly the same as in the King James Version. Now considering that Moroni and Mormon wrote there own words on the golden plates approximately 600 years BC isnt it funny that Isiah 2-14 is exactly the same word for word as 2 Nephi 12-24? Funny how the gold plates were written in King James English 1500 + years before the King James Version of the Bible was actually published. THat is not the only example there are many more plagiarised versions to. THere is someone out there who claims I am a rambling idiot as I have bought this point up before but I think we know who the idiot is.
So to answer the question I find it offensive that mormons claim to be the one true church with the one true book when the book is a rip off from the bible. I am sure Nephi managed to write exactly what the apostles wrote, word for word several hundred years before they actually wrote it themselves. THis is what I find offensive - saying the bible and the churches are rubbish

Yes, I have and continue to read from it. It is not offensive, it is quite an uplifting experience for me when I read it. I am sorry that you do not have the same experience. The first time I read from the BoM I had a very powerful spiritual experience of which confirmed to me there was more to it than it just being a book. Apparently, millions of people have had this exact experience.

I found it rather convulted and boring personally. I sent away for my free copy - interested in what the book actually said. Except it was anything but interesting. I read a lot but that was one hard book to get through.
Did I find it offenseive? No. I found it a bit weird and pretty out there at times but no I didn't find it offensive.

>>In a sense. It is offensive in that it claims to be something it is not. It is full of plagiarisms and teaching which are contradictory to the bible. The history and geography are completely made up and totally unsupported by archeology.<<
Plagiarisms from what? If it (as some believe) plagiarizes the Bible, then how could it be contrdictory to the Bible? That makes no sense.
I find nothing contradictory to the Bible in the Book of Mormon. The more I read it, the more inspiration I find.

in spite of if I dont recognize something with regards to the DNA question, I in basic terms had to indicate out the Lamanites and the Nephites weren't "tribes" from Israel. They have been a kinfolk that chop up aside as quickly as they have been given to the Americas. God punished the Lamanites with darker dermis because of the fact they grew to become faraway from Him. Oh, and that i certainly don't have self belief in Evolution, yet i've got self belief that technological awareness is generally authentic.

Every time I open that book I am amazed at how wonderful it is. I do not find it offensive, but more of the other way around. It inspires and lifts. I KNOW it is the word of God. It is as simple as that to me. It is true. It was translated by Joseph Smith Jr. the Prophet.
