I know this sounds wierd, I mean, I know that God has endless love for us, but I want to know your thoughts on this. Why would someone suffer so much so that we could have life through Him? Only Christians answer, please.

And thanks for all the awesome answers so far! I find them REALLY well thought-out and helpful...except for those written by atheists and such (though I guess that still helps me to see what all of you think)

Wow, what a thoughtful question. God loves us so much - we can only imagine His love. However as you point out, scripture tells us he loved us s much that he sent his only begotten son to take our punisment.
Let me ask you something. How would you feel if all the judges of the land allowed al of the criminals off from their crimes? Yes, angry, me too.
All of us break the commandments - try not to for one day.....
We have a Holy, perfect God who created rules for us to live happy and peaceful lives. He loves us and that is why He gave us rules... we have rules to keep our children safe.
Human kind disobey God every day. We are ungrateful for His provision, love and kindness towards us. After all he could take away all the grain and animals that we rely on but he doesn't. His grace is enough also for those who don't love Him.
However, he longs to have a relaionship with His creation. He has made a way for a final and perfect sacrifice, once and for all. No more lambs (old testament) jus the blood of the only perfect one - Jesus. He was willing to come to earth to live an exeplarary life and then die in our place. God loves us. I hope this answers your question, trust Him today, live with Him forever.

God sent his son Jesus so we would not have to follow the laws in the old testament no longer. Without Jesus we would be apart from God. That's why we pray to God through Jesus. I don't understand why he loves us that much but I am glad he does. He created us to have a relationship with him by free will. All I know is that he is an awesome God and some things we aren't suppose to understand. We'll just have to ask when we get to heaven.

I think it is the thing about being a believer that defines your commitment to Christ. The amazing way that God finds ways to illustrate his Divine Love is perfect. And if you have meditated on this at Easter and anytime of the year, your heart will be so blessed if you let the truth of it fill you and be in you. I am so touched by all that God has done, is doing and will continue to do for each of us through the life of Jesus. Jesus was here to give us a unique and one of a kind gift. I receive it with open heart, open arms, open mind. Do you? Do you see the perfection of God's intention and why he loves us so much?

God loves all unconditionally. God gave us unfastened will understanding complete properly that every physique people would desire to apply that unfastened will to cut up ourselves from the endless. So why would God stop loving us if we are basically workout consultation the unfastened will that "he" gave to us interior the 1st place. God hopes all us will make a extra robust determination and seek for oneness with God rather than separation whether it continues to be our unfastened will to no longer seek for this oneness. fairly we are all extensions of the endless, yet we would desire to comprehend that interior of ourselves till now that's a show up fact in our beings. additionally there is fairly little difference between Christians and Atheists. the two deny God. Atheists deny God exists in any respect on an analogous time as Christians deny God lives interior of themselves. They do this whether Jesus stated that the dominion of God is interior of you.

I don't want to answer your question as much as I want to exult in praise to His holy name. When I think of the sacrifice Christ made for us I feel the love of God so overwhelming, flooding my soul. There is no love like the love that God has demonstrated toward all mankind. Even in our darkest hour his grace has carried us to a place of light and fellowship. What greater love is there in all the world? Who else would die in my place, especially after being so blasphemous. This is what love is.

God loves us, but can't make us act perfectly. He made us with the power from right and wrong and the hope that we would do right. He doesn't cause suffering and pain, the people do by disobeying God and not keeping his plan. He created us with free will, to chose to follow him or to chose to turn from him.

Here's a different way to look at it.
When Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they immediately became aware of lots of things (not the least of which they disobeyed God, lied to him, and felt shame for the 1st time)
God knew their shame, and in His mercy, he killed one of His own treasured creations (possibly a lamb) to use the skin to clothe them. If you look at it as a covering for their shame, and read on, you will see God's great love.
After that, the bible tells us that God knew that no matter what man did from that day on, there wouldn't be any way to reconcile mankind to Himself through any sacrifice they could bring - nothing was perfect anymore after sin entered the world. Through the prophets, God outlined His plan to send HIS OWN flesh - born of a woman - to be the perfect sacrifice. He chose to give of Himself so that we could be reconciled.....
I love the picture of God himself clothing Adam and Eve - it's a perfect action for a perfect God to perform for those He loved.
Imagine how much God grieved the loss of one of His creation - a perfect lamb. Now imagine how much more He grieved for us - by offering Jesus as a perfect sacrifice
that's TRUE love.
blessings :)

we are his children, and as imperfect as we are, his love is endless. he created us, we sinned. He saved us. How God could love us so much is not something I believe we can "understand" yet, once we are in heaven it'll all make sense. I don't understand it but I can't wait for the day that I am with God so I do understand it. God Bless You

Ive heard when people have their first child, an overwhelming love fills them. They want to protect this child, they don't want anything bad to happen. On earth our feelings are minimal compared to feelings up in Heaven. Our senses are dim compared to senses up in Heaven. God is capable of loving so much deeply than we are. He doesnt want us to go to Hell. Hell was made for the devil and the fallen angels. But Satan corrupted things here on earth and now Hell has to be for all who choose Satan instead of God. But God tried to make it easier on us. In the old testament a sacrifice was made for God to forgive peoples sins. When Jesus came to earth, He didnt change rules but altered it. Now Jesus is our sacrifice, and all we have to do is vocalize our sins and ask God to forgive us and now its so much easier!!! The sad part is, even with this shortcut, there will still be much more people entering Hell than Heaven. But its truly our choice.

It is really beyond our capacity to understand. I used to doubt (trick of the devil!) whether i was 'good enough' to be able to get to heaven until I looked at it in the context of my dad to me, and me to my kids. No matter what i ever did, my parents always loved me, always. I am the same with my kids, there is nothing they can do that will change how I feel, i.e. unconditional love. I view God's love for us like that x infinity.
