I can not boot from my Window XP HDD any more. I can still see the contents of the HDD if booted from another HDD. But since I had password for my log in, I couldn't see the contents under my log in, i.e. my documents, my pictures etc. How can I get access to these personal files again on this HDD?

I would reinstall windows. Some of your windows files were likely corrupted. Reinstall will not wipe out your files or programs, it will just fix the windows files. There may be a repair option on your XP cd as well. You could try that first.

I have had that happen to a couple of machines, and the reinstall fixed it.

It happens because your new password for XP mean new user. Register your new password as a new user and shut down PC. Run PC again and try to log in with your OLD password and it must working. After this procedure your PC will be registered for two users. Best Regards and HAPPY EASTER! Neven.
