just because they are not in the bible does not mean that you cannot read them.
perhaps you should write your own bible, then you can put whatever you want in it.

Some people say b/c of the time it was written and others claim it was b/c it was a sexism thing. I'm not sure about the dates for all the books but I do know around the third or fourth century, the Emporer Constantine gathered a bunch of Christians together to decide what the religion was going to teach. He wanted to promote the religion (it's suspected) b/c it worshipped one God and he wanted to be the only ruler of the area (Rome). Up until then, Rome had been ruled by three or four. It was called the Council of Nicae and the group there decided what gospels were going to be used and other stuff. They guys who were there existed in a paternal society so a gospel by a woman would be scandolous.
I saw a show the other day on the History channel called 'What About Mary Magdalene' and one of the claims is that Mary could possibly be the author of John. The first four gospels are named after who the people at the time thought wrote them, but it was tradition not to claim authorship at the time so they really don't know who wrote it.
The History channel will probably show it again or you can probably buy it from their shop on-line. I've seen book companies list both 'The Gospel of Mary' by itself and as part of a book called 'The Gnostic Gospels'.

All the gospels have the same message because everything is true. If everything was false, all of the books would be reflecting different views. The gospel of Mary might not be in there because they didnt need it. They already had a bunch of people saying the same things in those other books.

God decided what Gospels to put in the Bible, not humans. Remember this: the Bible is the Word of God, not of man. Also, we need proof the the Gospel of Mary is really true. The other Gospels support each other, and so they are logically more believable. If the Gospel of Mary WERE true, then it would be in the Bible, simple as that.

Not having read any of those "other" gospels, would they change the message? Nope. At least not in a way that coexists with the current scripture. What we currently have is enough to believe in God. It's pretty much agreed upon in this day and time. What you read in your spare time is your own business. Spend your time wisely.

There were at least 20 odd gospels all written well after the death of Jesus including Thomas and Judas. The early church just picked the ones that suited them best in the year approx 320AD

The Church only included what it wanted to. It did not include a lot of texts that may be more accurate and more true to what the followers of Christ actually believed. When these texts were made public, the Church explained it as they were not included because they were "uninspired". Just a weak excuse. How would the Church know which was which?

The gnostic gospels are spiritually empty and the fathers of the early church had the common sense to see that, so they left them out.

this is a gnostic gospel, the canonical ones are the oldest ones (abt 50 year a. C.). The gnostics and the apocrypha are newer (abt 200/300 years a.C.).

It was decided that Christianity would become more about fear and control. The gnostic gospels were declared heresy by the church and ordered destroyed.
"Not inspired"!!!! That is crap!

Becasue it was left out by the Coucil of Nicea which being Greek based was afraid of anything that empowered women. The council also left out anything else that did not suit their purpose. So much for an "inspired" bible.
