We as humans have an obligation to help ourselves and each other, so yes. We need to educate them and help them obtain birth control.

Why aim this ar atheists?
The Vatican pulled all funding and support for the Unitied Way at the height of the crisis in Africa because the United Way was distributing condoms to Africans.
Seems to me that Christianity's moral obligation to help took a backseat to their dogma....
From http://www.positiveatheism.org/mail/eml9553.htm:
"[T]he chief motivation for Christian “charity” is not love of humanity at all. It is love of Christian dogmas and doctrines. For Christian teachings do not hold that good works are good in themselves. Rather, good works merely serve to show the inward theological correctness that Christians believe is necessary to win entry into heaven and escape damnation. Good works are merely the “signs and wonders” that prove Christianity’s divine authority. Most of all, good works are the bait to lure potential converts and the cost of being “saved.” All of which demonstrates not that the Christian religion is morally superior, but that it is morally bankrupt."

I think everyone should do something about it but I wish there was a predominant atheist group that would organize a 'Feed the Hungry' thing. But, movie stars like Angelie Jolie are being public about helping and U2. And they're not exactly known to be Christian so it's a start.

It is just God's way of thinning the herd, right.
Of course we should be trying to help. It is a large place, Africa, and there is no need for most of the miseries going on there.

Yes, give them all birth control. Of course, they won't all want it because of social customs, but they need to be educated. If they can't feed their infants, and need other country's food, what will we do when the kids grow up?
Over population leads to poverty and starvation.

I feel a moral obligation to try to help out a little. I’m not physically over there, but if we all gave a little, we could solve the problem. I guess that's how I feel.

Yes we do. Education is the starting point to eliminate the problem. No doubt it will take many many years.
