he was misdiagnosed....will be out of work at least 3 months longer...i do not work what can i do to get help with rent ,etc

See if he has any disability coverage.
Go to your church, see if they can help out.
go to your landlord, see if they can work something out long term.

OUCH! I don't know your situation, but unless you don't work for health/physical reasons you may need to consider doing so. Hopefully it will only be temporary.

Consider yourself lucky, Both my mother and mother in law died from it.
Suggest you go to a bank. They might be able to help.
