'They shall hate you because they hated me.'
This prophesy is fullfilled every day, as we have seen.

Why do we get the most flack? "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?" The Hindus, Buddists, Shamanists, assorted pagans, Atheists, Evlutionsits, etc. are all ruled by the same dark king. Satan is a smart guy, why would he attack his own?

mcd,

If recognizing that the war is Christians vs. the world makes me a Nazi then by all means : Sieg Heil.

The fact is Christians are singled out. And contrary to many of your comments Buddism is the world's most popular religion with Islam in second.

Those who go door to door as you all love to complain about, are not Christians. Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses do that.

As far as Christianity being "shoved down our throats", bull pies. Government regulation has banned any mentioning of God from public schools; atheists are desecrating the burial plots of soldiers by forcing their families to remove any Christian symbols, though Islamic symbols are not attacked at all.

If anyone is shoving something down a throat, it's the atheists.

Nobody,

If you actually have a point, I'm happy to listen to you. You are unlikely to change my mind, but I will definitely listen.

I will thank you for responding with civility, which most seem unable to do.

You are correct in your interpretation.
It is a spiritual battle going on and satan does not oppose himself.
Satan opposes anyone who claims and believes that Christ Jesus is God Almighty.
He does not oppose those who believe in Jesus as a prophet.
Only those who believe Christ Jesus is God Almighty.
Many claim to be Christians, but yet they do not believe in Jesus Christ as God Almighty, these are false christians and they are of the same spirit of anti-christ that rules this world.
The blind cannot find their way, because the darkness leads them away from the light.
God Bless You....Peace.

We have the same issue in Utah. Police Officers killed in the line of duty have had large wooden crosses erected on the side of the freeway where they were killed. The Supreme Court ruled this was an endorsement of religion, even though the officer's family could have chosen other religious or secular symbols rather than a cross. I am an atheist, and I have no problem with the memorials, and actually side against other atheists who believe they should be banned. We need to honor our fallen soldiers and police officers, and I do not see putting a cross up on a grave, monument or freeway is endorsing a religion, especially when non-Christians have other options for their memorial. Please keep the memorials, I think we all need to be reminded of the price of our nation's freedom and tranquility.

Yes, this is true. I even answered a question where one person suggested voting away religion! This person had no problem using the freedom of speech that my Christian ancestors and forefathers paid for with their lives! They are getting nasty and very extremist!Since they do not like the idea that they will be accountable one day and they have such hatred for Christians, they want to silence all those that do not think like they do! Prophesy is being fulfilled. It is evident that we are living in the days before Christ comes! Praise the Lord and may he come back soon! Remember, Jesus was not accepted either. If we are to be Christians, one must be willing to take up the cross and follow Christ. This reaction should not come as a surprise! It just means that the Lord is coming back soon! Lift up your head and be glad because God still sits on the throne and He is sending His son back to rule the nations! All will have to account for what they did! Just because they do not believe does not make them any less accountable!

I'm sorry but was there a question there?

You seem to have provided your own (and presumably to you) perfectly good answer.

And sadly I suspect that, although I could attempt to refute what you have said, you'll just turn around and tell me that since I am ruled by 'the dark king' you feel free to dismiss anything I say.

But I shall make the attempt anyway. There appear to be more Christians here than most faiths. Therefore there are more questions from Christians. Some of these questions are shall we say 'simplistic'. Atheists like myself like to see if we can get people to think about what they are saying, rather than just repeating by rote. This may at times appear as 'an attack' for which I apologise. We do this to all sorts of questions, not just Christian ones.

And we do not hate you. Look at my profile. You will see about 10% of my Network are Christians. The rest are Jews, Muslims, Pagans, 'free-thinkers', atheists and 'I know not whats' (possibly Taoist/ Buddhisty types).

What they share is not their faith but their ability to 'think outside the box', to put themselves in others shoes and to reflect before they speak.

And although Christians like you may well be quite capable of doing the same, that isn't the way you come across at times. Hence, I suspect, many of the answers before mine.

They make pathetic attempts to do so, but I've never counted fallacious "reasoning" and convenient misinterpretation of scripture as much of a challenge. They get caught in their foolishness and then accuse believers of being intolerant, mean-spirited, not being willing to understand someone else's beliefs, etc., etc., Nowhere in the Word is a believer told to try and be "understanding" of another religions "beliefs". In fact, in Galatians we are told just the exact opposite despite all this whining from the atheists and those who just want to "feel good" and have a big, group hug. Simply ignore them. They can't argue with silence. Then again, they can't argue period.

For one thing, you are terribly misguided in your question. Atheists challenge all religions. For another thing, if someone can be set up as an easy target, get ready to be targeted. I have no sympathy for this point simply because Christianity has railed against all other religious ever since its beginnings. For another thing, your assumption that Hindus, Buddhists, Shamans and Pagans are all ruled by the same dark king is absolutely asinine. All those religious ideas you mentioned were in existence prior to the onset of Christianity. Christianity is an idea. There is nothing new about christian ideology. Much of what they have taken as their own was taken from other belief systems.

Things are not as black and white as you perceive them to be. Things are not just about God and the Devil, heaven or hell, with god or without. Step out of the forest of religious expression, look at the trees, and a whole new world of religious possibilities will open up to you. Educate yourself about another's belief, and you will find that, in many ways, it is like your own, just expressed differently.

Well, some of them are Buddhists (it's a non-diety religion). No Hindu ever says anything bad here and a lot of people don't understand that religion. Muslims scare them. Christians turn the other cheek.

Now, who better to go after!

Because we are on to something good.

You quoted the verse I was going to answer with .

To believe in God to receive salvation through His Son Jesus is to admit that we are sinners in need of a Savior. This makes people uncomfortable. Like shining a light in a dark place.

Praise the Lord! God sent His Son to shed His precious blood on the cross for our sins. He has risen!!!

It breaks my heart when people choose to deny God, It breaks God heart even more.

Maybe the reason why christians are the predominant religion targeted by atheists stems from christian attitudes like:

"Atheists...are all ruled by the same dark king."

I am an atheist, and no hindu, buddhist or shamanist has ever displayed this reprehensible attitude towards atheists. Some muslims have, but christians are the predominant religion that display the least tolerance toward other beliefs/disbeliefs.

The misbehaving child will get the most attention.

Persecution syndrome much? Atheists don't think that pagans, Hindus, Buddhists or any other religion is any better than Christianity, except that we don't try to force them to follow our religion or force laws upon them. There is no such thing as an Evolutionist. There are evolutionary biologists, biologists who study evolution and there are a lot of people who understand evolution, but no "Evlutionsits".
