It's a Law that your dog get a Rabies vaccination yearly or every three years (depends on where you live).
You should also have your dog get a DHLPP Shot
and a Bordetella (If you take him to the groomer or board him, it's for kennel cough)
Your dog also needs to be tested for heartworms and get on heartworm preventive if he is negative.
You might want to also have him neutered if you are not going to breed him
Call your local vet NOW.
It's the best thing you can do for your dog.

Offer to work it off by doing chores for them. Find a way to do odd jobs somewhere to make money to pay them. Think about how you could have 'accidentally' shot a dog and make sure if you are pointing a gun anwhere that you know 100% where that round will go. A wonderful family lost their 14 year old son (dressed in Blaze orange) on a hunting trip cause someone thought the brown hair sticking out of the cap was a deer. Shot him twice. You don't want to live with that. If you have a gun or hunt - be responsible.

At the VERY least, your dog needs the rabies vaccination. It's required by law. The only mistake someone else told was the "you need it yearly or every 3 years depending on where you live". That's actually not true. How often they need the rabies is dependent upon whether you get them the 1 yr rabies vaccine or the 3 yr rabies vaccine. Rabies is a disease that you can contract from your animal, so if you don't get it you are putting yourself and your family (as well as many others) at risk. Also, if your dog bites anyone or is accused of it and it doesn't have the rabies vaccine, it will very likely be put down.

You need to take your dog to the Vet and have him checked for heart worm and you should get an Rx for heartgard to prevent the dog from getting heart worm.
You should also get some Frontline from your Vet to prevent your dog from getting fleas and other insects on their coat.
You need to have your dog vacinnated for rabies, it's the law and you surely don't want a rabid dog in your house!
Next, your Vet will give all the shots for all the routine infections a dog will get, just to be sure your dog is protected.
You should also consider getting Vet/medical insurance, as the cost for the care of a pet ( cat and dog ) can be very, very expensive. Remember, in the latest series of cats and dog getting sick from toxic pet food, many owners paid
in excess of $5000 to care for their pets.

Yes. definitely take your dog to the vet at least once a year for vaccinations. He needs to be tested regularly for heart worms and to be on a heart worm preventative. There are a few shots he might need. Don't expect that first visit to be cheap but if you love your pet it is certainly worth it. If you don't take him soon you could lose him to multiple health problems.

Besides the obvious Rabies vaccine, dogs (and cats) can pick up a virus through the outside air. Serious viruses that can cause an animal's death. Leptospirosis is deadly for one.
There are many. We need to treat our pets as we treat our kids, prevent illness and early death. See a vet.

He needs to get vaccinations, and since you do not have any of his past medical history your vet may want to do a series (multiple shots over a period of weeks, like in a puppy) to make sure that he develops an immunity to the diseases. He needs to be vaccinated against distemper, parvo, and rabies, along with any of the diseases that are common in your area (your vet can tell you this, and should have the appropriate vaccinations available).

You should take him to the vet and make sure he is okay. The laws are different about what shots your need to have for your pets.
I would be concerned about his health, papers dont really matter.
