Spent 20 months in prison in Okla-coma and yes it does effect future jobs. I was in for forgery. Being honest..... biggest mistake I've ever made, but I'm back finishing my Master's in Behavioral Science to become a license counselor. I can't get a job at the convenient store, but I can be a counselor. Know your rights before you go and do something stupid.

No, thank God I have never been arrested, convicted or charged of anything but if I get arrested just once for something insignificant I know for sure that I will lose my job as I work for the police department, and I'm not a cop, just a plain civilian.

Being "arrested" is DIFFERENT from being "convicted". You can have multiple arrests, but if you're not convicted, the charges usually age off.

I was arrested twice for DUI. I pled out both times, the second one was a technicality as the AO (arresting officer) DIED before the court date (LOL!)

As to affecting future jobs... I am a retired POLICE OFFICER... so I'd say the answer is no.

OBVIOUSLY, your mileage may vary. ;)

I have to say that even in my job I have been arrested LOL however I never have been convicted of anything. Hell one time I got arrested for MDOP and criminal mischief however charges were soon dropped. But if I ever got arrested for DV whether or not I got convicted it would seriously affect my line of work.

Not me but a good and dear friend was. He went to prison for 1st degree murder and bombing. He won an appeal and the bombing charge was dropped. He was also a prison trustee and this along with good behavior, he was pardoned by the Govener of my state. This friend is now a respected citizen of my home town, a successful business owner and has never been in trouble once, not even a parking ticket. To answer your question, one can be successful if they try.

No, not at all! If I ever am arrested, it could end my career, EVEN IF I DO NOT GET CONVICTED.
