I am sorry to hear about your Rottie.

I would contact the breeder, but did your dog receive the entire series of boosters (your dog should of got 4 parvo shots when he was a puppy)? Also, since parvo is a virus there are multiple strains. Vaccinations only cover the main strains, so it is possible that your dog got a mutated version of the virus that the body was not immune to. There is probably not much that you can do to sue the breeder, but if you talk to them they may be willing to give you a discount on another Rottie puppy.

If you have medical records the label from the vaccine used to vaccinate him from Parvo should have been affixed to the record each time he had a vaccination....you can contact the drug company on the label give dates the dog was vaccinated and the serial number from the label, however if the vaccinations were NOT given by a licensed vet or were not given on time then the company will NOT guarantee them.

Now the next thing is at what age was he vaccinated? Was he vaccinated the first time under 8 weeks of age? If so then it likely interfered with his natural immunity and suppressed his immune system leaving him suseptible to the very illness the vaccine was meant to protect against.

Did he have all 3 of his puppy series of vaccinations at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks and then a booster a year later? If he never completed his series or didn't get it done on time that can be a reason it failed.

If the kennel he came from got his vaccinations done when they were suppose to and he didn't come down with Parvo within 21-30 days of your purchase then they aren't libal. The dogs coming down with parvo had nothing to do with them. Also since it has been 2 years then they aren't libal anyway..it was up to you to make sure all vaccinations were UTD.

Not all brands of vaccines actually work. The only thing the vaccine companies have to prove to the FDA is that the vaccine will do no harm, they do not have to prove they work.

What proof of the vaccines do you have? Were they given by a vet or supposedly by an individual?

Sadly some breeds are more prone to certain illnesses and if I am not mistaken, Rotties are ones that are more prone to parvo where as Beagles are hardy little dogs and less prone to the virus. Doesn't mean Beagles can't get it but seem less prone.

I am truly sorry for your loss and wish you peace in your healing.

Who vaccinated your dog? People should never vaccinate their own dogs or let someone elswe do it. Only a liscenced DMV should vaccinate a dog against parvo and rabies.
You wont be able to sue the person, if you gave them OK to do it, u knew what they were doing and u took that chance.
How many boosters did u get your dog?? I have a 1 1/2 yr old pitbull and he's had 3 parvo boosters. So maybe you shouldv'e got more.

A parvo vaccination is never 100% coverage from the disease. It just makes it MUCH less likely that your dog would contract it. Unfortunately though it is still possible. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sometimes a parvo shot can give a dog parvo. If you had the dog inside you should mop the house with a bleach solution and if outside you should soak the ground with blech solution and cover in lime. That is to keep from speading the disease.

domestic dogs choose 3 diverse photos once they are born. really, i'm somewhat shocked you probably did not get them immunized once you first were given them. oftentimes, the first shot is for parvo, and it really is finished once a threat round 6 weeks and older. i could get it finished quickly, and once you're uncertain, ask your vet. you need to continuously be sure domestic dogs and any dogs you've have their photos, to no longer, is to almost assure them discomfort and shortage of life in the journey that they are unlucky sufficient to catch it. fortuitously, your 8-365 days-previous under no circumstances fell sufferer to it, regardless of your vet declaring they are too previous, get them both all 3 commonplace photos to ascertain they could stay a wholesome life. If the vet gained't because he anticipate they are too previous, locate yet another vet. it really is more advantageous positive to be secure than sorry. regardless of in the journey that they do no longer have the ailment, they could carry it and bypass it onto different dogs and it really is deadly. Please, talk to a vet, regardless of if it really is no longer your modern one.

I doubt it. Did you have proof that the dog had been vaccinated? Then you might have a case.
