It depends what god u are talking about?
The Lord Jesus Christ, does not require females to wear veils in this day and age.
The Muslim culture, of course, requires veils!

God created a lot of beautiful things-not just women (there's some pretty hot guys out there too-lol)!! As another writer already said, Man put the veils on women-not God! (It's not like they came out of the womb wearing them!)

Rux gave a wonderful answer. Most of her points is what I wanted to say! :P lol
Women wear veils to protect themselves from people such as rapists.
If you go out showing your beauty your bound to be raped, therefore the viel hides the beauty and protects the women. As some people have said that the veil is a man made law, well you people are 100% wrong. It's not what man has said, it's what God has said. It's stated in the Bible and the Qur'aan. Stop being arrogant, and accept it.

GOD created beautiful women not for men to gawk over. The Bible states that if you've looked @ a female with lust in your heart you've committed adultery.
That's not my word, but GOD's word. It's in the Bible. I happen to believe the Bible very strongly.
Look at the world around you and view the Bible's predictions all coming true.

Why indeed? Why would God create anything of beauty, then want it to go unappreciated?

the veil covering is man's interpretation of the law, and has nothing to do with God.

I agree with Mesquites answer that its mans interpretation...I think it stems from one of the ten commandments, Thall shall not covet thy neighbors wife, etc. If you cant see it you cant covet it.

People are too judgemental about looks. Hiding your beauty is a way of getting rid of shallow people who appreciate looks only
