He was probably a darker color than a lighter one, but not African.
Theres only one reason it would matter, I like historical accuracy and showing Him as blonde and blue-eyed, or any other of the rainbow of colors hes been depicted as being drives me up a wall. He was of Jewish descent living in an area with strong heat and sun and would have most probably resembled most of the people of the area. Dark hair, dark eyes, deep skin tones.
In the sense of does it matter for religious purposes, no, as a spiritual thing no color is important.

It should not matter, but being Jewish he was likely olive complected or light brown. Incidentally, this is why so many people are offended by the Jesus paintings here in America -they are completely inaccurate since He was NOT a caucasian, blond haired blue eyed sissy boy with a womanly face and dainty little lips. Remember that He was a carpenter (laborer) and probably looked just a bit weather worn being constantly exposed to Middle Eastern sun.
Worst of all, painting Him is a clear violation of the second commandment: "You shall not make any carved image nor ANY likeness of anything which is in heaven."
In Christ,
Tom

The color of Jesus does not matter. However, he would most likely have looked like the population of the Middle East. For sure he did not have chestnut brown hair and blue eyes!
I had this poem in my sons' room when they were kids.
O children, do you see him black or fair
This child to whom you raise your prayer
Do you see him yellow with almond eye
The baby Jesus praised on high
O children of all lands you see
God made his son to look like thee

the bible says he had hair like wool and his skin and feet was bronze like as it was burned in a oven that sounds pretty dark to me so he had to be the color of africans and jews cause those people out there are dark and why dose it matter and for that other person don't say he aint black because ain't no such thing as a black person or a white person black african and black americans skin tone are from midnight dark to the lightest chestnut brown so jesus was of dark race because arabs are black they just light skinn because the middle east was apart of africa until that global earthquake came read ya history peoples

Jesus was a Semite, and would have the appearance of anyone from the Middle East. And it doesn't matter.
He loved me enough to suffer and die on my account, to save me from my sins.

He probable gave the impression of all the different Jewish human beings of that aspect. yet i know what you mean. The white human beings have a white Jesus contained in the image of their domicile. The blacks have a Black Jesus brilliant on the wall, and the Latins have a latin searching Jesus. That replaced into yet another element that continuously perplexed me as a toddler because the outline of him contained in the bible would not more advantageous wholesome the photos you be conscious painted or revealed

It does not matter. However, I believe he was not too dark and not too white. He was Jewish, but from the middle east, not Europe, so he had a lil bronze. My opinion.
