Oh - gosh no!! We were poor and I had three older siblings so - while my home life was very loving - there were a lot of "things" that I didn't have - and if I wanted what was around - I was required to compete with my siblings - which was hard.
My Mom brought me into the kindergarten room - and my teacher Miss Pardue greeted us. (I'm 50 and I have quite a vivid memory of this, still) I was a little scared as it was a brand new experience - and I had not gone to any kind of pre-school or day care. I held onto my Mom's leg a bit - and as she and the teacher were chatting a bit further I turned to see an entire wall with shelves of brightly colored, pratically brand new toys on it - and kids were freely playing with whatever they wanted. I looked at my Mom with a big smile and said "Bye!" - and that was that.

No, I didn't cry. But I looked around at all the other kids and wondered what was the matter with them. My first day of school was first grade. They did not have kindergarten back then.

I had a huge problem with leaving my mom until I was in like, 5th grade. When she left me at preschool, I thought I was going to die! :) I had my cousin there, though. We did everything together, so I was better after the first little bit. She was fearless, so it rubbed off on me after a while. :)

i remember my mom laying me down for a nap (before i started school) and i got up and walked to the school (and the end of the block - which was 4 doors away from my house) to find my brother. i sat down beside him and went to school !
imagine how freaked out my mom was when she couldn't find me. she yelled so loudly that the teacher heard her and told me it was time to go home before we both got into trouble.
my first experience with school.

No, I didn't. I was smart enough to know I was at school. And my mom was smart enough to tell me about it beforehand (and act excited about it) so I would be excited too. I thought the kids who cried were big babies.
