No, God understood him exactly. That's why he got booted out of heaven. He thought since he was the top ranking angel and so handsome that he should be a great as God. He wanted the other angels to worship him.
He is that bad and he is real.

Don't ever misunderstand this:
satan hates all Human Beings and does not want any of them to go back to Heaven.
Not a one.
satan is an outlaw dog spirit outcast "angel", not a human being capable of feelings.
Ditto...............

God understood Satan perfectly. Satan's name was Lucifer.
(as an incidental aside - the word luck begins with the first three letters of his name - I mention that because with God all things are sure so there is no reason to believe in luck).

Lucifer was foolish enough to think that he could overthrow the
One who created him and was cast out of Heaven.

Isaiah 14:12 to 15 - How art thou fallen from Heaven O Lucifer
son of the morning! How art thou cut
down to the ground which didst weaken
the nations. 13: For thou hast said in
thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will
exalt my throne above the stars of God. I
will also sit upon the mount of the
congregation, in the sides of the North.
14: I will ascend above the heights of the
clouds, I will be like the Most High.
15: Yet thou shalt be brought down to Hell
to the sides of the pit.

Notice that the central problem with Lucifer was the word "I"
which is the center of "sin." Sin began with that little letter and
continues to this day because Satan and pompous mankind working hand in hand are still trying to overthrow God and take dominion over others and their own lives. Submitting to the rule of the God who created them is offensive to them. In the case of these people, Satan has blinded them to truth.

Satan knows he will be in Hell because he knows God never fails on His promises. Mankind, created in the spiritual image of God is the one thing Satan hates above all things because we reflect our Creator. He tempts in every way He can to pull men away from the safety found in Christ and when
men, women and children die without turning to Christ for the salvation promised he visits Hell and laughs and mocks those
he was able to trick into believing him their entire life.

If you think tricking millions into rejecting the sacrifice Christ made for them on Calvary and deliberately blinding them to their eternal peril isn't so bad then Satan isn't all that bad, but if you are wise you will believe the Bible record of both Christ and Satan, repent of your sin and allow God to rule and reign in your life. Satan will have no power over you then unless you
give it to him again.
