I was on the cabbage soup fast for two days last weekend - not to lose weight, but to cleanse my body. That is the only purpose I'd recommend you try it. I was using it as a meal replacer and I was still eating solid foods - raw veggies, of course. Your body really doesn't get enough calories!
As others have posted, it indeed gives you gas and you should stay close to the bathroom.
Here is the way I prepared my soup:
-1/2 head of a madium-sized cabbage (I coarsely chopped the leaves...you can leave them whole if you'd like. I wouldn't shred them if I were you. It's messy.
-1 large carrot, chopped
-4 cloves garlic, minced (or pressed)
-1 stalk celery, chopped
-1/2 of a small white onion, chopped
-3 (14 oz) cans veggie broth (or chicken broth)
-1 can of water
Turn the heat on to medium and gradually bring the mixture to a boil. Turn the heat down slightly, just so the heat is reduced, but the pot continues to boil. Allow pot to cook this way for 40 minutes. Turn off heat. Allow to cool slightly. Strain off veggies and discard. Keep broth and drink.
Good luck!

That's a terrible diet. Any diet where you eliminate food groups is not healthy. Because you are eating only soup, you will lose weight because you aren't eating enough. But that weight isn't going to stay off. As soon as you start eating noramlly again, which eventually has to happen because you can't eat soup the rest of your life, the weight comes right back on. Besides, restrive diets like that only cause people to want to binge. Simply eat healthy (proper portions of food groups) and exercise reglularily.

I realize you probably don't want to hear this, but I recommend you not waste your time with that diet. You'll probably lose weight, but it's because your calorie intake is so low. Once off the diet, if you havent' SERIOUSLY changed your eating and exercise habits, you'll put the weight back on...
Why not just eat right and exercise from the get-go and skip the gimmicks? Trust me, I've been there...I've tried many (stupid) things over the years...the only long-term way to keep weight off is also the most simple....eat a well balanced diet keeping calories within a reasonable range, and exercise regularly.
You could have easily found this yourself, if you'd put your search engine to use and typed in cabbage soup diet, so I'll post it...it clearly states not to use the diet for more than 7 days and be aware you will likely put the weight back on if you don't change your lifestyle from what it was when you gained the weight. http://www.cabbage-soup-diet.com/
Good luck!

My sister-in-law went on this diet and she had the worse gas ever. I don't suggest it if you are going to be around people or in public while on it.
