First run a virus scan. If this doesnt work, use the "System Restore" function to revert youre hard drive back to before this problem happened. eg: week and a half ago.
If this doesnt work you will have to format the hard drive completly and reload windows back in again. Please save any work you have onto a cd-rom before you do this. The e-mails are stored in a special data base within the yahoo site so by formatting the computer, you wont lose them.
Also, keep in mind that the site may be experiencing difficulties. Also, make sure the "Caps Lock" button isnt pressed when he is typing in his id and password.
Try these things. Please let me know if i can be of any further help and best of luck. Dont panic alright, he will get them back.

Have you tried requesting your password? They have a link for forgotten passwords that will send it out to a backup email, "if he set it up at the time". Otherwise he is just going to have to remember what he setup for (mothers maiden name) or whatever he used. Otherwise kiss the account goodbye and chock one up to understanding the importance for BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. Another thing to consider here is the fact if you read the policy agreement it clearly states that Yahoo Mail servers are not for the purpose of storing email's. He should be using a client based email system such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

After a certain amount of time, your email account, in any program, can be shut down by the company that owns it. If your Uncle hasn't used that email in a long time, this is definately a problem. Oherwise, good luck finding the answer

20 years? Somehow I kind of doubt that ... since yahoo wasn't around in 1987...

Nonetheless ... if you cannot access it, try every password you can think of you/he has used in the past ... also yahoo will email info to whatever email address was listed as a secondary or primary address (other than the yahoo one).

If you forget the answer to your secret question...then your screwed. Maybe next time he'll write it down if it's being used for business.
