7 megapixels is more than enough to make full page prints. Besides, any more and you'll probably hit the limit of what your lens can resolve. Megapixes are a great selling point because a bigger number implies better qualty - but that isn't always true. With high megapixel point & shoot cameras, the consumer grade lens becomes the bottleneck for resolution.
On the other hand, the difference between 4x zoom and 10x zoom is pretty consderable. I WOULD pay extra for that. Or to put it differently, for the same price I'd prefer extra zoom to extra megapixels.

There may be other factors that you should consider.

I'd get the 7.2 megapixel w/12x optical zoom. That should be plenty for home use & the zoom is excellent for getting things that are a little far away. I use my zoom all the time...I don't know what I'd do without it!

The latter of the two.
MP of 7.2 is more than sufficient for all usage. Can't go wrong with more optical zoom.

OMG1 hit it right on the head. 7 mp is enough for almost all photographers. Go for more optical zoom.
