how do i remove the light switch on a 97' f-150 to replace it????

There should be clips behind the dash that hold it in place.

remove the trim panel around speedometer...trim left and right of column..pop them out remove the 2 screws .. pull the bottom of the panel out a little bit now there are 3 friction clips across the top of the panel trust me there there put the lights on once on pull harder the knob should come off in your hand shut the lights off from the top pull that panel off start at left unsteady pull each clip will come undone..there your light switch 2 Phillips head screws now put it back together

Like the other guy said, I think you put the lights on, remove the knob, put it backwards, then turn again, and it releases clips behind the switch

You have to remove the knob.then put it on backwards thenturn it.It realeases tabs on the side of the switch in order to remove.
