My parents are willing to pay for my college. Great right? Problem is they want to govern exactly where I go. It has to be a christian school , and even then one that they believe is just right. My choices, according to them is Pensacola Christian College, Bob Jones, (plus afew that I never will got to). All of them are Christian schools ,and all of them are ones I don't want to go to. I suppose PCC wouldn't be too bad, but I don't think I would get the best education there. I want to major in pre-med or in a visual arts major with a concentration in commercial arts. If I choose a different college though, I won't be able to pay and my only other option would be joining the military so they could pay for college. Don't get me wrong, I love the military. GO ARMY! But I just don't think that would be best for me. Scholarships are there, but I doubt I'd get one.

Plus if I choose a different college than what my parents are planning for me, that would pretty much mean I'm getiing kicked out of the house. I have 2 sisters and a brother though that I want to enjoy and spend time with too.

This is a major decision that will affect the rest of your life. You have to decide, not us.

It's their money, their choice. Lots of people pay their own way through college with work-study, scholarships, etc. Have you talked to a counselor at school about scholarships? It's time to take responsibility for your own future. You are lucky that your parents are willing to pay for your education. Instead of acting like a spoiled brat, take a look at the schools they are willing to pay for. They might just have something to offer you. At the very least, you can do your undergrad work there, and then go somewhere else for medical school - using student loans. Otherwise, you better start looking for a part-time job!

Your choices are to go to the colleges that your parent's approve or pay for college yourself. I'm sorry, but parent's do not have the obligation to pay for college for their children. Your parent's are willing to pay for your college education, but they have put a stipulation on where you go. Is this wrong, no because they want to root you in their beliefs. I would check into these colleges for the majors you want. You may be amazed to what degrees they offer. Be grateful your parent's are willing to pay for your education. It may not be your first choice, but it isn't "would you like fry's with that meal?" Make the best of the situation and be grateful your parents are going to commit to spend a great deal of money on your education.

If some how you find a way to go to another college, I don't believe your parents will disown you. As long as you're not disrespectful or bringing unwanted behavior into the house, I'm sure you will be welcomed.

Too bad they are so rigid in their thinking...have you expressed your needs to them? Ask them if they believe they have done a good job of teaching you ethics and trustworthiness? Have you spoken to your guidance counselor at school? Are they aware that you may have to join the military(perhaps put yourself in harms way) in able to attain college money? Keep your options flexible for now...do some more talking with you parents, they should be very proud to raise a child with some clear, concise goals! Good luck to you dear....

There's alot of financing available these days. Go to the college that you want to attend. Sometimes if you give people an inch, they'll want to take a mile.
