Because they have no sense of history. History must always be analyzed according to the thinking of the time at the historical events occurred. It's not "liberal philosophy today".

It's commonsense that comes from a society that allows freedom of thought.

the "freedom of thought" part is where you might say philosophy comes into it. The same freedom that's giving you the right to express yourself
