Yes, Sauna help you lose weight in two ways: one by the loss of water, but this is temporary and is easily made up when you drink fluids.

The second effect is to increase your blood circulation and thus make your body work harder to maintain its normal temperature. This is like the warmth that you feel when running. But without much physical work, this effect is less.

So, go for sauna if you can't run for some reason and if you must lose some weight quickly.

You would certainly have to stay in the sauna for a very long time and continually hydrate yourself so you don't die of dehydration and also take breaks so you don't get light headed. I agree with the other answer that I think sauna are to relax your muscles after exercising. It moreso gets rid of extra impurities in the blood by sweating but other then that I don't think it helps in weight loss.

It is a myth, your body will endeavor to keep your hydration level at optimum. You will sweat water not fat! As soon as you go home thirst will ensure you restore your fluid.

I have to admit I have a 'stock' answer for this question, since if you look it appears 20-30 times every day!!!

Type 'guaranteed weight loss' into google, you will find 1 1/2 million sites!

Look around you if ANY of these things worked would we be getting so overweight?

We are what we eat, but we are at least as much what we don't do. Calorie intakes in 1900 and 1950 were higher than they are now, we just don't use them up!

Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg.

Take a healthy amount of exercise 30-40 minutes of vigorous exercise per day 4-5 days a week. I hate to think what percentage of the UK population does that 2%? 5%?

I have seen hundreds of questions with this same pattern :- I am fat, tell me where on line I can get this super diet or herbal/dangerous/illegal drug that I hear will fix it for me in 10 minutes without the need for me to get off the couch!

No fixes pal , less in more out, its the only way.d balance.

If you weigh yourself before and after a good stint in the sauna, you'll see a decrease in your weight. Remember this though, the sauna makes you sweat, which means you're losing liquids that were previously in your body. The weight you lose in the sauna is not 'fat', so you're not really slimming down. You're just excreting sweat. Its always good to drink water and or a sports drink after the sauna because sweating depletes your body... So you may lose 'measurable pounds' in the sauna, but don't rely on it to give you a beach body. It will not do that.

a sauna will help you sweat, thus letting you loose about 2-5 lbs of water depending on how long you are in there...it wont get rid of weight the traditional way, just your bodies natural release of water (sweat)

not really coz you will only lose water and so when you weigh again it will only look as if you lost weight by a few pounds. but in really its just water. and if you go into sauna for too long, you might get dehydrated.

Absolutely! They suck you dry. You can sweat out 5lbs of water weight in no time. I used to wrestle in high school and would get in one with sweats on. While it's not the healthiest way to do it, it definitely works
