Find something that you both enjoy... a common ground!
What is it that attracted you to him? Where did you meet?
What sports/activities do you enjoy? Whats he do during the week - school, 6th form, work...?
Have a laugh and be silly together... ask him questions...
I can be quite a shy person at times, and only really open up when i feel comfortable around the person i'm with.. then i'm fine.. don't put him down about his shyness, just try to find something you both enjoy and talk to him..
Good luck... its the joy of new relationships.. im sure you will find loads of interesting things out about him soon.. x

I had the same problem. All my friends laughed at the way my boyfriend acted. He never would look me in the eye because he was so nervous all the time. He was my boyfriend in name only. He would never call me, talk, come sit by me in school. So I gave him an ultimatum, change or it's over. He was too shy to be what I needed and he didn't change so I broke up with him, and I found a new and WAY better boyfriend in a just few weeks. He just didn't make any effort so I grew tired of trying to make it work. He was really sweet and a good guy, but sometimes that just isn't enough. Ask your guy about waht's going on and tell him how you feel. If he doesn't try even to make it better, end it. (Unless you think he is worth waiting around for.) Who knows maybe it'll work.

Maybe he just doesn't like to talk. The best way to get someone to talk is to be interested in what they have to say. If he talks about anything, give him your full attention. Ask questions but mainly listen. A lot of guys don't like to talk about certain subjects but can talk for a long time about other things. You have to find out what those other things are that he enjoys talking about.

If you know what he has an interest in perhaps you can spark up a conversation by using a personal interest of his as a subject. It's really good too if it's a subject that don't have a clue about. You can ask him to explain it to you. That should break the ice. Then you can ease in to talking about other things. Hopefully, that will work for you.

Obviously both of you are very young. You just need to hang out with him and make him feel the most comfortable then both of you will start a friendship which will then either turn into something more or it wont.

I find telling long stories fills the silence and helps them come out of their shell. Ask lots of questions about them that they know they're passionate about, eg if you know he likes football, ask about that. DO your research too, then you can have a debate!

I think you should find some things that you two have in common. Do some things he likes to do. Have him invite some of his friends on a double date with you.

He probably likes you so much that he is afraid to get embarrassed. But, a good conversation starter is pets and things that he likes
