your question reminds me of a story .when Alexander the Great was conquering more lands ,one day he happened to see a saintly man singing and dancing about. and he seemed to be very happy. Alexander was surprised to see a man without any possession living in a happy state of mind. He had a talk with that fakir and told him about his wealth, his vast empire. The poor man enquired what was the use of accumulating so much of richness and whether the king ever had enough time & rest to enjoy the wealth.
as we know from the pages of history the emperor never even returned to his kingdom after his conquests.
From the Buddha's sermon we know that desire is the cause for all sufferings. the more and more one possesses the needs also increase. Happiness is relative . one can be happy without any possession. and the other can be still running after material things without enjoying what is in the hand.

Stuff will never make you happy. What Health listed are the only things that can.

In Calcutta, I saw families living on the sidewalk with nothing more than the clothes they wore and a single pan to boil rice. The mother and father clearly loved each other, and the children were beloved and happy. You could not have bought their contentment with cars, clothes and refrigerators.

Well, only an ascetic, who is a realised Master can be happy in such circumstances. Only one who has total faith in the Maker will confidently wait that the necessities are always taken care by the Maker.

Yes, having "things" might seem important, but they aren't what matters most. True happiness doesn't come from material "things". They might make suffering "easier", but there's a lot of "rich" people who aren't "happy".

I think you may be looking in the wrong place for "happiness". Sharing your life with family, being physically healthy and having faith in God are some of the things that make us truly "happy".

It is very possible to be happy without material "things", you just need to start appreciating the things that matter most.

The true happiness lies in the emptiness of the mind. So without anything, you are bound to be happy. Cultivate a thought that you are nothing and you are living for others and for the mankind.
You will surely be happy.

A man went to a Swami and said " I Want Peace".

Swamiji replied "The expression " I " stands for Ego. Remove it.

Next thing to do is remove 'wants' - expectations.

You are now left with Peace. [from the original sentence of 3 words]

May be difficult to understand. Once done easy to apply.

Everyone has their own little things that make them happy.

When my mood starts to get low, I think of any small things that make me feel happy. I really like cats so if I think about them, it usually makes me feel content at least. Or appreciating something... like the weather, how nature looks, etc.

Think of all the little things in your day that caused you even the slightest happiness, like laughing at a tv show or you heard a joke from someone, eating something you like, etc.
