I have Microsoft Word 2002 and I couldn't find the approximate sign ( the sign that looks like an equal sign except the lines are wavy). I also tried looking on the character map but couldn't find it.

Please help me.
Thank you!

Character Map is under Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools. This works almost anywhere in Windows.

In Word, you can just do an Insert, Symbol. Much faster. If you click once on the letter, it will show you the shortcut for next time. If you use a symbol a lot, you can make your own key combination. Just click on the shortcut key in Symbols and it will guide you through it. Very handy.

Click the Show/Hide icon. It's icon looks like a Paragraph symbol. It is located near the Zoom percentage box on the Standard toolbar. Good Luck

Use the Ideal Gas Law equation: PV = nRT (pivnert!)
P = pressure
V = volume
n = moles
R = ideal gas constant
T = temperature
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, list out the knowns of the problem
P = 9.59 atm
V = 89.71 L
n = ?
R = ideal gas constant = 0.08206 L*atm/mole*K
T = 379 K
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Solve for n
PV = nRT
n=PV/RT
n=(9.59 atm * 89.71 L)/(0.08206 L*atm/mole*K * 379 K) = 27.66

If your document is in Ariel go to Symbols box - make sure the font is set to (normal text) - the symbol should be 24 lines up from the bottom.
At least that's where I found it!

You can find it under 'symbol'

Click on 'insert' on the menu bar, then 'symbol' and you should find it several rows down. Click on it and then insert.

Type Alt-247 ≈ This is much quicker than inserting a symbol. Most Mathematical symbols have an associated ALT code.
