It's quite easy. Religion does not have to have hatred and castigation. My religion does not contain those elements. I believe that all people are equal and that there are many paths that can lead one to truth. So I don't look down on other religions. Mine is the one that works for me, but it very well may not be the one that works for you. I accept your path for you. So why would I hate you? Why would I oppose you? As long as you respect me, I can respect you. I even respect your right to believe that yours is the only way, even though I happen to disagree.

I love God and Jesus but that is not religion...that is faith.

Religions are man made and anytime man takes over, things will always go mans way..not Gods.

People have a tendency to use God as an excuse to do whatever they please. They strive to accomplish their own agenda in the name of God because they think it gives them credibility. For those of us who actually know God and Jesus, we are sometimes fooled by them as well....for a time. The true character of the individual will eventually show through. If he or she is truly a person of God, their love and concern for others will always remain steadfast. They do not judge...but show respect and love instead.

Your question is like hundreds I have seen in the past and I do understand what you mean. Religion itself has not been a good thing for this world...but God and Jesus as I said...are not religion. Nowhere in the Christian Bible does Jesus ever say that specific churches are to be developed etc. People who say that are only supporting their own belief in a particular denomination or sect.

I am told, (by dubious authority; self proclaimed Christian, online so it could be anyone, really...) that "believers" are the soldiers of God.

All the hate and castigation in the world does not make for a disciplined force, just a shadowy 'group' that uses "terror tactics" by targeting the accounts of their 'opponents' and swamping them with spurious violation reports.

I don't think it has to be that way.

I've met members of many different religions who were very nice people, and I can't imagine them being hateful.

However, the most vocal religionists do seem to preach a message of "Everybody who disagrees with us is bad and they'd better do what we say OR ELSE."

Too bad they can't all be like the nicer ones.

Many religions are very peaceful, very accepting of others. Religion does not need to walk in combat boots. Keep searching, my friend!

Please. If you need an example of hatred and castigation without reference to religion listen to liberals talk about conservatives or republicans.

Hatred does not need religion, it only needs ignorance and stupidity. This is why education in urban areas, which has been under control of primarily Democrats for the last seventy years, is always sub-standard and why Democrats preach hatred like "right wing conspiracy" and "culture of corruption", because Democrats have to keep people ignorant to keep their hatred up.

Thanks

Religion is totally possible without that. Most religions aren't radical, but every single cause has radicals, and they throw bad light on the rest.
