You can attack the name of the Holiday, but the timing is the Lord's. Jesus was raised from the dead on the Festival of First Fruits (after being crucified on Passover). It was on a Sunday - the Sunday that is now called Easter.

Yes I know Easter has pagan roots. But the fact is that I choose this day to commemorate the resurrection of my Savior. What is it to you anyway? Whether you choose to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus or not is your business. As for me, I will take the Lord's Supper and remember the sacrifice Christ made for me.

Yes and there is some truth to easter being part of paganism at one time. But, so what? And more so, who cares?
Easter is celebrated by Cristians as the resurrection of Christ. many holidays have roots different from how they are now celebrated and again, who cares? moot point.

Easter is not a Pagan holiday! You can celebrate what ever you choose, be it Equinox or any other name it still isn't Easter.Let the Jews celebrate Passover, let the satanist choose whatever they want to choose. We will celebrate the way we choose.People with different call it something else! Pagans do not call it Easter!

It's just mind boggling how many want to argue the pagan origins, of Easter.
Thanks! Constantine and Catholicism for the practice of inculturation.

I'm celebrating Easter, a Spring festival named after Eostre, an Anglo-Saxon fertility Goddess whose symbol are eggs and bunnies.
Jews can celebrate their Passover (the murder of thousands of Egyptian Children) and Christians can celebrate their Zombie story, but I prefer mine.
It was good enough for my ancestors in Europe and it's good enough for me.
Never cared much for the bloody Middle Eastern holidays.

Yup...knew that...most xian holidays are on or near dates of Pagan holidays...it was done in hopes it would make conversion easier for the pagans (if they didn't feel they were having to give up their holidays/celebrations).
Nothing new there.
