Though the "Church" has used allot of the pagan symbols in the Easter celebration it is a Christian High Holy Day. The Lunar Calendar was as used by the Jews for their Temple Calendar also. Christ was killed during the week of Passover The timing of Easter is more on spot than the date we celebrate for Christ's birth.
Blessed be

Halloween is my favorite. =)
You're right, it's based on a lunar calendar. They see the word Easter in the New Test and assume it was never practiced before. But even in that day and age, it was a huge Pagan holiday... weddings and births were always big around this time. Perfect timing for a resurrection story... when we are coming out of winter and the earth itself is "resurrecting".

It's really a beautiful holiday, and I accept the different ways of celebrating it by various peoples. The Christians have one interpretation of the day. Pagans have another. They are all good to Me. I do wish that the Pagans and Christians would get along better, and realize that I accept the devotion of all of them. My brother Jesus rose on this day, and He was a great guy - I can attest to that. Even though I'm the Goddess of the Internet, I've been around a long time. Before I took over as Goddess of the Internet, I was the Goddess of technology, way back since the invention of the wheel.

Actually, I have a couple of favorites.. Beltane and Samhain, Ostara is a good one, but not my favorite.
The fact that it's Lunar has less to do with it being pagan than the fact that it is in honor of Eostre (aka Ostara) the Goddess of Spring whose totem is a hare (bunny) and whose symbol is the egg.
The Council of Nicea changed Passover to Easter in order to unite the Roman empire.

Well, perhaps it doesn't matter when Jesus died as long as there is a day when it is remembered. It is the most important day in the Christian calendar. Respect!
I am not a practising Christian but do still think of the religious meaning. In our family we have a special meal and an Easter Egg hunt.
Pagan festivals are cool too - and I do love Easter, but these days, more because people don't go as mad as they do at Christmas and in England it is a beautiful time of year.
Liked the question!

The fact that it is on a lunar calendar is not what makes it Pagan.
It is a fertility celebration of Ishtar, another name for Semiramis, the wife/mother of master mason Nimrod who supervised the building of the tower of Babel, the place where Babylon originated.

I don't have a favorite, but Easter (Ostara/Eostre) is kewl. I love the spring and to me Easter is a sign of the arrival of that season...plants/flowers are coming awake after their winter slumber, animals are being amorous, and all the chocolate is divine.
The wheel turns...time to sow those things we'll want to reap later in the year.

They don't think they invented it. They took a pagan day and turned it into a Christian holiday. Good for them.

As long as theres candy, i dont care who invented it. Yes Christians are stubborn and pretty much brainwashed. But they brought the holiday of candy into mainstream society, where it otherwise would have stayed a pagan only holiday. CANDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
