The common misuse of the term as a substitute for "I have an idea" seems prevalent.

Albert Einstein had two Theories, The General Theory of Relativity and The Special Theory of Relativity. He spent the remainder of his life trying to develop the Unified Field Theory, but he was unsuccessful.

According to the pew sitters, he could have just stated, "I think those field thingies are unified." and knocked off for coffee around 8:10 AM on the first day.

A Theory is a functional working model, which has to incorporate all of the known data and predict future data, similar to a computer model, but before computers.

You seem to think that Creationism is a competing Theory, when it meets none of the criteria of a Theory.

No Garden of Eden, no talking snakes, no evidence of a recent 'Creation', and ALL evidence outside of your mythological story pointing in the other direction.

How did you people manage to graduate from High School?

A lot of us do understand the term and it's proper usage and meaning. We also understand the scientific method.
So now you tell me which part of Abiogenesis is a theory? What part have you repeated, tested, falsified, or observed ? How many cases of macro evolution has science observed?
Why is the Coelacanth still swimming around with no sign of any evolutionary changes after supposedly being extinct for over supposedly 25 million years. Why are whale fossils , crocodiles and other reptiles identical to their "ancient " fossils? Dating problem or just no sign of evolving?
Why can science not come up with one instance of genetic mutations where there is an increase in genetic knowledge? Every known case of benefical mutation has shown a decrease in genetic knowledge, but for evolution to be possible it has to have a beneficial mutation that increases in knowledge.
Evolution is a Hypothesis not scientific theory by scientific standard. It is only a theory because science is so opposed to a God being in the mix. Science should follow the evidence even if it goes to a Creator, but science discounts any evidence of that out of hand.

the be conscious "hypothesis" is utilized in non-technical contexts to propose an untested concept or opinion. A "concept" in technical use is a greater or much less universal or universal rationalization accounting for familiar data or phenomena such because of the fact the belief of relativity. hypothesis is a conjecture positioned forth as a accessible rationalization of phenomena or kin, which serves as a foundation of argument or experimentation to attain the fact: this concept is merely a hypothesis. the element the question is looking is why some creationists carry close to to the be conscious "concept" as though it by some potential casts doubt on the validity of the belief. That illustrates a needed misuse or fake effect of the medical use of the be conscious "concept".

Hypothesis is a plush doll for beating the living crap out of till it turns into gold. Theories are meant to be first proven, then broken.

They don't want to understand it. I personally think science needs to come up with a different term just to eliminate the confusion.
