I feel very strongly that Bush is making ANOTHER big a mistake in vetoing congresses bill to leave Iraq. I would like to know what everyone else thinks.

And if we don't leave because of Bush and my husband gets deployed next year don't you think bush should be held accountable if my husband dies and leave me a widow and my daughter without a father.

In response to Harley...and anyone else thinking this. My husband loves being in the military and he would die for his country in a heart beat. But I don't think its right asking a soldier to die in a war they don't agree with. I know that can't be possible. But I think any soldier, who dies next year after March, was murdered by the hands of our president.

Yes, the US and its allies, Britain and Australia, should pull out of Iraq. The invasion was illegal and against the UN Charter despite what G.W. Bush is saying. The UN did not authorise the invasion of Iraq (Gulf War-2), whereas Gulf War-1 was a UN authorised invasion and war. I feel that Saddam should have been overthrown then.
Technically, the G.W. Bush and his administration along with those of The British and Australian governments could be brought before the International War Crimes Tribunal (IWCT) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ). With the Americans, congress has passed a law stating that no US soldier or citizen can be brought before the IWCT but only be tried in a US court, and I doubt if a US court would attempt to bring G.W. Bush and his administration before the Federal Supreme Court.
As for what would happen if the US pulls out soon -- there would still be fighting between Sunni and Shiite Muslims with the government slowly gaining control. Also, possibly the Kurds in both the north and the south may try to expand the control of their areas and expand their areas, hopefully in a peaceful manner with the central government.

We should do a blanket seize fire for 30 days. Pack up and move out.

Whenever we leave there will be a Sunni Shia ethnic cleansing the likes we have seen in Africa. The Kurds will try and take back Anwar province and the 70% of the oil revenues.

They are already stockpiling for the pullout and they are looking at a few years.

I say catch them off guard and pull the hell out.

The war was won already, we deposed Saddam and cleaned out the Iraq Army.

Bush proclaimed. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Claim victory if its that important.

Read the link, it's what everyone is saying.

They shouldnt leave Iraq until this proxy war with Iran is over. Iran is who they are fighting, not to mention, Syria, Pakistan, Parts of India, Egypt and Saudi......they are all sending in suicide bombers , etc to Iraq to fight the US. So, until that is stopped the war in Iraq will NOT be over, and BUSH is NOT going to let Iran build nuclear weapons on his watch. Neither is Israel. Are you aware that Iran will use NUKES against anyone, and everyone and without real cause to rush in this ideology of this supposed 12th Imam ??
Their Koran and Ideology gives them reason to hate, murder, maim, kidnap, etc.....
Dont forget to, our soldiers are even finding Chinamen in those caves, and that leads back to the Koran too. All unhappy people who feel no other purpose in life, are joining alquaeda, taliban, etc.....

All Volunteer Military, so no President Bush should not be, and the Bill you are talking about should never have been written the way it was, Congress knew before they drafted it that it would get vetoed and that is why they did it to get votes. The Dems need to quit using our Troops as political pawns...that is outrageous.

...I feel strongly that Congress is making ANOTHER big mistake in handing out a bill with millions of dollars on it that are NOT related to anything to do with Iraq. Should we leave Iraq...? "Yes". When...? "As soon as our Generals on the ground and the Iraqi government say so".

A very big YES, and as soon as humanly possible. The USA is once again doing what it is good at; sticking its nose in where it doesn't belong. Our military is supposed to be used to defend our country in the event of a REAL war, and isn't supposed to be used for personal power gain. A strong possibility that gas prices wouldn't continue to climb if the USA wasn't in Iraq???

congress made a mistake by telling the military to set a definitive date. sure we should pull out, but i feel that we should leave when the generals in country say its time.

letting politicians (who, if they have visited, stay for a week max.) tell the military how to do its job is ludicrous.

I agree. However I do think it is the USA economic interest to build permanent military bases and to secure the oil fields and pipeline prior to leaving.

I think that yes we should get out of Iraq, but as far as a date I don't think it's a good idea to give out an EXACT date is not a good idea.
