my cat is losing her are one her legs. chest, and sides. what could be causing this.

This is Mange. You will need to go to the vet to get injections that will stop the mange as well as medicated shampoo.

My cat did the same thing. The vet ran blood work (nothing there) and said her thyroid isn't working. We put her on Soloxine, and her hair has grown back in as thick and luxurious as it was before. The medicine isn't expensive, and I grind it up and put it in her food.
