When we take prisoners in Iraq you can never be sure if they will bee beaten, tortured or held indefinatly even though our presense is ilegal. When the Americans take a prisoner it.s straight into a concentration camp (but their not Nazis, ha.ha).
The 15 were treated realatevly well. Surly you must agree that this is a show up. We can't call our selfs 'Great, now can we?

Mock executions1 I supose that is a bit to far but what would the Met do to members of a group of the christian church if they protested over homosexuality:

1) Arrest the group.
2) segregate each member of the group
3) Interigate each member to identify the leaders .
4) Play one off against the other.
5) Tape recorde each interigation
6) Keep the perpertrators in police custedy for 90 days without hope of a trial
7) Keep you without sleep

Compared with the Met the Iranians did not treat the 15 that badly did they

I'm sorry I can hear you saying but this is a milatary encounter. By God your right! How would the allies of treated 15 Iranians? Well from past expeirience:

1) Capture them
2) Send them to a concentration camp out side the country where they can be beaten, tortured, heldwithout hope of trial indefinately, made to beg for thir food ect.
3) Strip them naked and make the male soldiers perform simulated sex with each other.
4) Parade them around naked and make them walk like a dog with a collar around their necks.
5) Apply electrical shocks to the testicals and other parts of the body
6) Play foot ball with the prisoner where the prisoner is the ball and kick him to death, ect, ect, ect
If you have been keeping yourself informed you know it gets worse

I often wonder what planet some of you are from. Do you really think the 15 were treated worse than the allies have treated the Arab Freedom fighter. Our own police force treat us worse than the Iranians treated the 15.

Considering what the Americans are doing right now in Guantanamo Bay,and many other secret prisons around the world,I think the Iranians showed nothing but civility and restraint. After all the crap the Americans have been giving them,I think they behaved in a manner that was well within their rights. All they were doing was protecting their border from what must be seen as an invasive and politically motivated act. The only threat they pose is whatever you want to believe the bush administration says is true this week.Fox News and CNN are NOT the only news outlets in the world. Watching their ideas of the "truth" is almost the same as reading the National Enquirer.

Any fool could undoubtably understand human beings handle their prisoners extra effective. truthfully does every physique understand why a pair of the infantrymen, no longer the yank protection tension, had some prisoners stripped and grouped into piles? The prisoners have been attempting to point a rebel interior the detention center! human beings additionally do no longer placed their prisoners on televison, breaking international regulation, and don't bodily torture their prisoners! i does not take the observe of Islamo-Fascists who desire to demonize the US. every physique with a mushy head and archives of the previous undoubtably can see who reasons the subjects! Come on, i think of the factor of those varieties of questions is to get an advance out of folk and to no longer locate an obtrusive actuality!

Yes, we are still Great! We are a lenient country. Our servicemen were acting correctly in waters they were directed to by the UN. They could not open fire due to their 'rules of engagement'. You do not open fire on"friendly" units - as we are not at war with Iran they are friendly. If this happened in UK waters the Iranians would be asked to leave politely, before further action.
Another point. Look how the International Police officers have treat our football supporters this week. That would not happen in the UK as we have a professional police service. In the UK a police officer acting that way would lose his/her job.
We are a liberal society - that is why we are GREAT!
And to finish. After this situation I do not think the Iranians are a stable country to hold nuclear weapons. So I have now changed my opinion on the possibility of force against Iran - I was against it before but no longer trust their actions.

They were actually exposed to psychological torture after being kidnapped on an anti-smuggling mission. They were physically unharmed in a propoganda coup which was clearly pre-planned. The only show up I feel occured here was when the Cornwall and her Lynx failed to put the 6 boatloads of approaching criminals to the bottom of the gulf.
The beatings that occur in British detainment are isolated incidents out of hundreds of life saving detentions and are fairly treated with the severity they deserve.
The man who lied and threatened the compliant sailors and marined was issued an ad hoc (and somewhat ridiculous) medal.
I'm glad our people acted with professionalism and are back safely.
Note to future encounters, you have a frigate with the most advanced naval tech in the world and the fastest and heavily armed Sea Lynx, use them next time...

They were subjected to extreme mental torture.
They were taken hostage for political reasons and were at no time in Iranian waters. You call this good treatment?
Both my son and son-in-law are in Afghanistan at the moment. Unless you have a son or daughter at war, you cant imagine the dread and stress you go through, wondering if your child will be killed, maimed or tortured. How can you say we treat captives badly?

That the Iranians released the 15 British sailors does not excuse the fact that they captured them in the first place, given that those sailors do not appear to have been in Iranian waters. Nor does it excuse the fact that they paraded them on Iranian television, in contravention of the Geneva Convention.

The Iranian's behaviour does not excuse the behaviour that the US is increasingly engaging in, where prisoners taken in "the war against terror" (sic), may well find themselves being tortured. For one thing, the Americans' behaviour means that other people are more likely to say, "Well, if it's good enough for the Americans to do, it's good enough for us." This, in turn, means that other people, including members of the US and British &c armed forces, are more likely to be treated badly if they are taken prisoner.

Yeah - treated them like royalty didn't they?
Good job those lovely Iranian folk didn't find out that the female marine had ever looked at a male outside of wedlock else she'd have been stoned and strung up from a crane in a football stadium.
