Whenever the mood strikes.
A nice shot straight out of the freezer after dinner, or when friends are over...particularly after most guests have gone home and only the good friends are still there...especially good after fǻrikǻl.

Skǻl!

No relation to beer.
Drink it straight from the freezer with the pickled herring before main course whenever you have friends over to dinner.

I am also unfamilar with the taste although I have heard the name. What is it similar to that we (in the US) would be able to identify?

Is it sweet? Distinct, like gin? Have any taste at all? Sour? What?
