The "root" of the toenail is the part that causes the nail to grow. It is called the matrix. If the matrix was destroyed in the course of toenail removal, the nail will not grow back. If the matrix is intact, there can be regrowth. Your doctor should know whether or not your matrix was affected by your surgeries.

You have two identical questions, so perhaps you have the same problem affecting your two toes! As for solution, you should leave them alone without causing any further damages and over a period of time they could start growing again! The doctor may have his own reasons for saying what he said but it seems he is somewhat ignorant!

Well if the toenail bed is damaged or irrepairable, then there's nothing you can do to re-grow your nails.

Why did you need to have repeated nail removals? Chronic ingrown nails? Infections? Malformation?
