Hi, a fellow colleague accused me of taking her observation result which she tried to photocopied.
Initially, I was using the photocopier, then she cut in when i was using it halfway saying that she wanted to use it for a while. I let her use it. however, the machine was cranky and broke down. At the same time, she went off, putting her observation result slip in the machine. I

went off because i know the machine was spoilt and could not be used anymore.

when she went back ,the slip of paper was gone. since i was the last to see the paper, I was accused of taking it
Everybody is looking at me from a negative angle now.

What should do? feeling miserable! :(
Help!

Simply tell anyone who mentions it that you did not touch her paper. She is trying to shift her carelessness and irresponsibility off on you. Don't let her get by with it. Don't hang your head and act guilty. Forget about it unless you are asked. Stop obsessing over it, it makes you look guilty.

You need to go to Human Resources and have her join you. By reporting it, it no longer is rumor, you have squelched that by stating what happened. Things like that can later be used against you, so go clear it up and ask that this person that is accusing you must stop in front of the HR representative. Make sure you let the HR person know that this is an official request, so she must put it into your personnel file. Some places are very relaxed in following the proper protocol. If you're true to your story then you will sound true.

I can imagine this is a very frustrating situation for you. I think the way to handle this best is to go straight to the woman who accused you to tell her what happened. If she doesnt listen, go to your supervisor or boss and tell them what happened. Her results either got thrown away or someone else took them, so that means they may still be out there!
Good luck, I hope this gets easier for you.
