I live in Oregon. I have two ambullance bills that I can't pay off because I'm on ssi and it was from before my medical started so my Oregon health plan refuses to pay for them. Even though one of them was just one hour before my medical started.
What's even sader, is it depresses me because these were suicide attempts and I already have to face the fact that I have a mental illness and low self esteam everyday. I don't need an ambulance bill from a suicide attempt to remind me of that. Are there any ambulance billing assistance programs out there? I've tried talking to the ambulance place and they won't reason with me. They did start a charity to help pay bills but they said that because mine was before the date their charity started, they can't help me. I just want to make sure I have this paid off because it is difficult renting an apartment with debt. Alot of managers don't like that.

Go to your local church, your local dept of human services and also the local hospital - all of them should have a list of different charities that help pay medical bills. (an ambulance bill would fall under that category)

Good luck to you.

look if you have offered a pmt structure under what you can afford and they denied it. Then you might not owe anything at all according to your local laws now. If you are a ck recipient then pay what you can and if they dont like it oh well. Dont stress about it,,, you tried. Believe me it is not something you should reflect back on as a reminder of what you have done. Either pay it how you can or forget about it.
