"It is my position that eventually, society will be freed from the shackles of religion, finally driving the last nail in the coffin of the dark ages, and banishing ignorance and intolerance forever. This, however, will likely not happen in my lifetime".
Not my words but words that I agree with.
Eventually, and it will be much later than 2045 in my opinion, religion WILL fade away. Atheism is growing in the civilised parts of the world - and I do NOT include the USA in that area - but the myth of religion is being perpetuated through childhood indoctrination. Parents are force-feeding garbage to their impressionable children, particularly so in islam, where the child NEVER has a choice about religion, let alone which one. There are a few exceptions. I have heard of muslims who have become atheists but they were not living in a country dominated by shariah law.
Thus, I agree in principle but believe that you are being grossly optimistic concerning the time schedule.

I don't think that by the year 2045 the human race will be as it is today. I think by that time the Messiah will have come and rescued us from ourselves and every living soul on this blue jewel of God's planet will know God is here with us.
We won't need religions because we will already know the truth by then. We will have the proper worship instead of a slew of contradicting religions.

Remember, that's not that far away, only 38 years. Most of us will still be alive.
Any sea change in religious belief will literally take a lifetime or more.

That won't be true at all. You're underestimating religion and why people follow it. However atheism could be the majority like 35% if you separate different beliefs.

I think that humans have an inate need to believe in something that can answer all the unanswerable questions. That is why religion will always be around. God made man? I think man made God.

I think you're wrong. The majority of people will be religious for a lot longer than that.
