What if all the poor citizens of Mexico march to Mexico City and demand the nation of Mexico to give them welfare, give them food stamps, give them free housing, and free medical care, and jobs? Mexico Slim can pay some taxes out of his billions to start the whole thing off. That way Mexicans won't have to flood across the border illegally to get all that stuff here in the USA. It's time for Mexico to get off it's lazy butt and take care of it's own citizens down in Mexico isn't it?

Wayne A, I do realize you probably don't know much about the history of America, but please understand, as a US native American indian, it is offensive as hell that you and others like you forget that ALL of the land of the USA, from sea to shining sea, was the land of our US native American indian tribes, NONE of which were ever "mexican", or "aztec", or "mayan". Mexico has no historical claim on any of the US land, Mexico only claimed they "owned" some of our land for a few unimportant years.

Mexico would never help its people its a corrupt slum of a country and anyone who leaves it to come here and waves its flag obviously does not have the mentality to become a US citizen and never will.

Perhaps if they did that, they might end up in one of those mass graves that seems to pepper Mexico near the Texas border.
Seriously, I do take your point. Mexico does has the bases to make a good economy, but corruption and abuse and the lack of will by the people has prevented it. THey have the natural resources and a hard working population and easy acces to the worlds biggest market (US). The country can be the new United States. Maybe the subjectiveness of the law hampers Mexico.

Well absolutely the answer is to get them on the right path economically. How *that* could be accomplished is more complicated than the war right now. I just don't know.
Things would have to be pretty good down there for them not to cross illegally - I don't see that happening for a long long time. Also, so many have crossed and settled and pro-created at this point that they will be bringing family members in whether the economy is better there or not.
I don't think people who live in other parts of the world or even in other parts of the U.S. can actually begin to grasp just *how bad* the problem of los illegals really is on the West Coast. (California, Oregon, and Washington.)
They come into stores like Target with no shoes on, fithy, rattling off broken English, like frightened animals, long dirty nails, and they get some flip flops and it's off to do another day of construction for a company that could care less about our laws.
Meanwhile, indian reservations are profitting big time with their casinos and paying no taxes, the Muslim owned 7-11's have a never ending supply of men with 2 wives who want me to be #3, in American schools you are required to take a 2nd language, but los illegals are not required to learn English, their culture appears to be about nothing but sex and unwed mothers who are nothing more than breeder rats, and round and round we go.
I'm just extremely confused and scared by ALL of it. If I could *do something* to help improve the Mexican economy I would. It just seems to me that some of the billions being put in to Africa right now could be spread around a little more.

As an Australian it's hard to identify with being landlocked to a third World country like Mexico ! Untill I think of all the problems we would face if we where landlocked to Indonesia ! That would be a border patrol nightmare with the Worlds largest Muslim Country sharing our border - thank God for Salt Water Crocodiles and the fact they can't swim !
Your tourist Industry would flourish if you improved the Mexican influence and homeless problem up and down the West Coast ! Come to think of it wasn't that all a part of Mexico at one stage ?

Mexico can't just "get off it's lazy butt" that easily. The thing is, countries like the U.S. have good work ethic. That is why they are on top, while countries like Mexico have a weaker work ethic and therefore try to come into other countries.
There is no way to stop illegal immigration really. We can slow it down with worker exchange programs, but there will be no stopping it...
